AMUCO, COCOMI, FOCS to talk with MHA together

The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) and the Federation of Civil Society (FOCS) have agreed to talk with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) together on June 30 .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, COCOMI convenor Khuraijam Athouba said that the MHA invited them to another round of talks to bring an end to the Manipur crisis on June 3, 2025 .
Ahead of the scheduled meeting with MHA, COCOMI, AMUCO and FOCS held a joint meeting at Hotel Imphal today.
During the meeting which lasted for around one hour and a half, the CSOs agreed to talk with MHA officials together as a single team.
A 19-member delegation comprising seven representatives from COCOMI, seven from AMUCO and five from FOCS would leave Imphal for Delhi on Sunday for the scheduled talks, Athouba said.
The delegation will point out the assurances given by MHA officials earlier but have not been translated into action till date.
The Government of India will be allowed to set a time frame to fulfil the proposals/demands raised earlier in order to bring peace and normalcy in Manipur.
The MHA officials would be told in clear terms that the CSOs may take a decision to abort the talks if the Government of India fails to fulfil the same proposals/ demands within the time frame, Athouba said.
AMUCO senior member Sougrakpam Bhubon said that he felt elated on seeing the realization of the people's demand for unification of CSOs and added that there however was no division among the CSOs .
They were guided by the common objective of protecting the integrity of Manipur, he said.
The issue of keeping farmers away from paddy fields located in foothill areas and the issue of free movement on National Highways would be raised at the scheduled meeting, Bhubon said.
The MHA officials will be asked to take up concrete steps at the earliest so that all the displaced people can resettle at their native villages.
The talks will focus on restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur, he said.
BM Yaima Shah of FOCS said that all the grievances and wishes of the people would be tabled and discussed with MHA officials on June 30 .
Whatever conspires at the meeting would also be placed before the public, he said.
All the 19 representatives who would take part in the scheduled meeting with MHA officials were also present at the press meet.
