CSOs rally against planting of IED at Noney
Source: The Sangai Express

Noney, September 27 2022: A peaceful democratic rally was held today at Puiluan (Kambiron) village, Noney district against planting a bomb at the village allegedly by security forces.

The rally was jointly organised by Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM), Rongmei Naga Luh Phwam Manipur (RNLPM), Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur (RNSOM), Nungba Area Village Authoritiy Association (NAVAA) and Nungba Area Joint Action Committee (NAJAC) under the aegis of the United Naga Council (UNC), Naga Women Union (NWU) and the All Naga Students' Association Mani-pur (ANSAM) .

The rally was staged condemning the cowardly and barbaric act of planting a bomb at Puiluan (Kambiron), a historical village of freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang, by Thiyam Ashok Singh of 87 Bn CRPF allegedly at the behest of 39 Assam Rifles on September 24 .

The rally urged the Govt of India to make every effort to bring an amicable solution to the Indo-Naga political dialogue.

The treacherous military activities unleashed continuously upon the Naga people by the Indian security forces are highly unacceptable said Eno Thotso, ANSAM general secretary.

Naga Women Union president Eli Asha condemned the barbaric and cowardly act of the Indian security forces against the innocent civilians of Puiluan village.

She praised the local people for showing their strength and commitment to prevent the alleged State sponsored terrorism by security forces within the peaceful village.

Athan Rongmei, vice president of the RNCM lauded the villagers for showing their true Naga colour that saved innocent lives.

He exhorted the people to remain alert against such diabolic schemes of the Assam Rifles.

Such stage managed drama isn't a new subject and is not unexpected.

Nungba Area, a peace zone where not a single gunshot is heard or known is targeted by the Assam Rifles frequently to get a "good boy" comment from their officers by planting bombs, he said.

"This was the fourth incident of planting bomb by Assam Rifles in Nungba area during the last 4 years and we cannot remain silent spectators.

Assam Rifles who claim themselves to be 'the friends of the hill peoples' are simply terror experts, bomb planting experts, conspiracy experts and threat experts as shown by their activities", said the RNCM vice president.

He said that saving and defending oneself from the evil conspiracy of the Indian security forces specially Assam Rifles should be taught to each children as safety measures since the proclaimed security forces cannot be trusted anymore for safety.

The slogan and placards of the rally termed the CRPF and Assam Rifles as 'Bomb Planting Experts, Terror Experts' .

The rally called for peace and further urged the Govt of India to work an inclusive, honourable and acceptable solution to the protracted Indo-Naga issue.

The rally also demanded immediate booking and initiation of exemplary actions against the rank and file involved in the Puiluan incident.

Repeal of the draconian Armed Forces Special Power Act, 1958 from all Naga Areas was another demand raised through the rally.

It also demanded a logical conclusion to the Indo-Naga peace talk with due recognition of Naga Flag, Constitution and integration as the inalienable rights of the Naga people.

On the other hand, one hour total shutdown was enforced at Senapati district headquarters from 11 am to 12 noon on Tuesday in solidarity with the people of Puiluan village, Noney district while condemning and denouncing the alleged act of terrorism committed by the security forces.

The one hour total shut down was reportedly enforced in all Naga hill districts of Manipur as directed by the All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM) .

All shops pulled down their shutters and movement of all types of vehicles was halted at Senapati during the total shutdown.
