Class X results declared with record pass pc of 93.03

With a pass percentage of 93.03, High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2024 conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) has created history with the highest pass percentage registered to date.
In stark contrast to previous years, the list of position holders was not announced this time owing to the introduction of a grading system.
The HSLCE 2024 results were declared today at BOSEM Conference Hall at Babupara with H Gyan Prakash, Commissioner, Education (S) as the chief guest; Akham Joykumar Singh, Chairman, BOSEM and T Geetchandra Sharma, Secretary BOSEM; Ayam Athoi Singh, Controller of Examinations and Elangbam Sonia, Joint Secretary Education (S) as the guests of honour.
Altogether 37,547 students appeared in the HSLCE 2024 and 34,961 students cleared the exam, creating a record 93.03 pass percentage.
Only 2616 students failed the exam.
Out of a total of 18,995 male students, comprising both regular and external candidates, 17,678 cleared the exam, achieving a pass percentage of 93.03.Meanwhile, 17, 253 female students passed the exam out of a total of 18,552 female students, thereby getting a pass percentage of 93.00 .
Additionally, Government schools (307) have achieved a record 84.34 pass percentage, which is reportedly the highest in the last decade.
7622 Government school students cleared the exam out of a total of 9037 students who appeared.
Last year, the pass percentage of Government schools was 82.82.The pass percentage of aided schools (56) stood at a record 92.74 with 1213 students passing out of a total of 1308 students who appeared.
Meanwhile, private schools (571) recorded a pass percentage of 95.93 with 26,026 students clearing the exam out of 27,202 students.
With these pass percentages, both private and aided schools have recorded their highest pass percentage to date.
At this juncture, it is worth recalling that HSLCE 2021 had registered an overall 100% pass percentage as the Government promoted all students owing to COVID-19 pandemic.
Among the 16 districts, Tengnoupal district registered the highest pass percentage with 99.65 while Jiribam had the lowest pass percentage with 50.71 .
In Tengnoupal, 577 students passed out of a total 579 students while in Jiribam, only 287 students passed the HSLCE 2024 out of 566 students.
Thoubal registered 99.04 pass percentage, becoming the district with the second highest pass percentage.
4635 students passed the exam out of a total 4680 students who appeared.
The pass percentages of the remaining districts are as follows: Kakching-97.58%, Bishnupur 97.32, Chandel 97.08; Noney 95.71, Kangpokpi 95.29, Imphal East 94.81, Imphal West 93.63, Ukhrul 91.28, Senapati 89.47, Churachandpur 85.75, Tamenglong 75.59, Pherzawl 68.18 and Kamjong 65.46 .
Announcing the official results, H Gyan Prakash pointed out that unlike previous years, the marks of individual students cannot be seen this time.
Only grades have been awarded to the students.
The approximate range of marks a student has scored can be ascertained from the grading points, he added.
Stating that the introduction of the grading system will improve the psychology of students, he underscored that children will no longer stress over leaving one-mark questions unanswered.
However, it will be possible to identify the best performing school by the number of students with A1 grade and the pass percentage of the concerned schools, he maintained.
Meanwhile, Akham Joykumar Singh thanked everyone involved in successfully conducting the HSLCE 2024.Explaining the grading system, he stated that a student who has secured anywhere between 91 and 100 marks will receive an A1 grade with a grade point of 10.0 .
Marks ranging from 81 to 90 will get A2 grade with 9.0 grade point; 71 to 80 mark range will be awarded Bl grade and 8.0 grade point; 61 to 70 mark range will get B2 with 7.0 grade point; 51 to 60 mark range will receive C1 grade with 6.0 grade point and 41 to 50 mark range will be awarded C2 with 5.0 grade point.
Meanwhile, a student who has secured between 33 and 40 marks will receive grade D with 4.0 grade point.
Marks between 21 and 32 and 0 and 20 will be given grades E1 and E2 respectively and declared failed.
