Imphal, April 27 2026:
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand chaired a meeting of the NDA MLAs at his Secretariat today.
While details and agenda of the meeting have not been disclosed, the Chief Minister in a post on Facebook said a deliberation on critical issues of governance and administration was held with a "clear resolve" to restore peace and security.
"Chaired a meeting with Hon'ble MLAs of the NDA at the Secretariat today to deliberate on critical issues of governance and administration, with a clear resolve for coordinated and decisive action at all levels to restore peace and security in the State," Khemchand wrote on Facebook.
"The Government stands unwavering in its duty to protect the safety and welfare of every citizen.
We are committed to ensuring that peace, prosperity, and sustained progress are delivered to all, guided by the core principles of people-centric governance," he added.
Notably, this meeting of the NDA MLAs came close on the heels of the COCOMI rally on April 25 which posed seven questions to the State Government on key issues in the aftermath of the Tronglaobi killings and the deadly TM Kasom ambush carried out by suspected Kuki militants.
A bomb attack suspected to have been carried out by Kuki militants in Bishnupur's Tronglaobi on April 7 killed two children and seriously injured their mother.
Three civilians were later killed and dozens were injured on the same day in CRPF firing on protesters who had gathered outside their camp near Tronglaobi.
The protesters had denounced the CRPF for failing to prevent the militant attack and protect civilian lives.
The TM Kasom ambush suspectedly carried out by the Kuki militants on April 18 killed two Tangkhul Naga civilians, including a retired soldier of the Army.
In the aftermath of the incidents, the public had been mounting pressure on the Government to take decisive actions to prevent further attacks and crackdown on Kuki militants.
The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), on April 25, had organised a massive public rally which sought the State Government to make known its stand on 7 key issues.
Through a memorandum, COCOMI had urged the State Government to crackdown on "Kuki narco-terrorists", end Government of India's "proxy war", deliver justice for Tronglaobi and TM KasOtn victims and initiate judicial inquiry against CRPF personnel involved in killing of three civilian protesters.
It had also urged the Government to take swift actions to abrogate SoO and update NRC .
