ILPS Campaign : Women activists march to Congress Bhavan

Volunteers of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System Women Wing (JCILPSWW) today tried to storm Congress Bhavan demanding implementation of ILPS in the State.
Initially, the women volunteers took out a protest rally on BT road shouting slogans like, 'Implement ILPS in the State' and 'Congress MLAs, resign' at around 12.30 pm.
After reaching the traffic island, located at the western gate of Kangla, they tried to storm Congress Bhavan.
Although, they were prevented by police from entering Congress Bhavan complex, eight selected women volunteers were allowed to meet Congress General Secretary Bidyapati Senjam.
It is said that Bidyapati assured them to spell out party's stand on the issue soon.
On the otherhand, a large number of womenfolk from Bidyanagar, Alipur and Kamranga took part in a sit-in-protest organised by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System, Jiribam under the aegis of JCILPS, at Lamkhai Bazar in Jiribam Sub-Division today.

JCILPS Jiribam chairman M Hemanta said that implementation of ILPS would regulate entry of non-locals into the State.
Unchecked influx of non-locals has created lots of problems to the indigenous people of Manipur, he added.
He also urged the people of Jiribam to extend support to the ongoing pro-ILPS movement.
In Thoubal district, people of Yairipok Bengi and Charangpat areas resolved not to allow entry of non-locals, who do not have proper/valid identification documents, in separate public meetings, held at their respective localities.
The meetings also took similar resolutions of extending full support to the ongoing pro-ILPS agitation spearheaded by JCILPS.
Apart from resolving to press the Government on immediate and unconditional release of Advocate Arjun, the meetings also decided to enforce a system in which non-locals need to take permission from local Meira Paibi bodies and clubs if they have to visit these areas.
The meeting, which was organised at Yairipok Bengi Arong Ningthou Laibung was jointly organised by Bengi Leimarel Meira Paibi Association and Bengi Youth Club.
JCILPS members Th Manihar and N Bimol spoke at the meeting as resource persons.
On the other hand, the meeting, held at Charangpat Maning Leikai community hall, was organised by Charangpat Apunba Meira Paibi Lup.

Meanwhile, demanding immediate implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the State, All Moirang and Ningthoukhong Diesel Auto Owners and Drivers Co-ordinating Committee organised an auto rally from Moirang Bazar to Chingei Lampak via Bishenpur Bazar.
A mass meeting was also held at Chingei Lampak where the auto drivers and owners unanimously resolved to verify the identity of all the non-local passengers.
The meeting also resolved that all the non-locals, who fail to produce valid identity cards would be handed over to the nearest police station or would be asked to return to their respective home States.
The auto drivers and owners pledged to encourage and support JCILPS in all their pro-ILPS agitations.
