Protest staged against blast, JAC formed

A sit-in demonstration was held today at Ibudhou Luwang Pokpa Lampak, Chingamakha to protest the bomb blast at near the Singjamei Kshetri Leikai residence of Speaker I Hemochandra, which claimed the live of one and wounded atleast four others.
The explosion at around 6.30 pm yesterday had killed one Maisnam Ratan Singh.
Locals from different locations of Singjamei assembly constituency took part in the protest demonstration from 9 am during which roads leading to Pishumthong, Heirangoithong and Liwa Road were blockaded and shops in Singjamei area downed shutters.
Ratan's mother M Manisang, who also took part in the sit-in protest said her son brought home fish for dinner upon returning from work at Sur Printers, Palace Gate and went out of home telling the family that he would prepare the dish.
Ratan also reportedly assured his son that a new pair of slipper would be bought the next day (Jan 23) as he was short of money yesterday.

Manisang also recalled Ratan's stint as a technical staff of The Sangai express and informed that he left behind a 13-year old daughter studying at Little Flower School and a son studying in Class IV at Shantibala Memorial School.
Ratan's wife Somo Devi lost consciousness on hearing that her husband has been killed in the blast, the mother continued.
Women activist S Shyama blamed security lapses for the killing of innocent citizens with the assertion that blasts had rock various pockets of the Singjamei in the recent past.
Meanwhile, the protest demonstration ended with a public meeting during which a JAC was formed and various resolutions adopted.
According to a JAC statement, decisions taken at the meeting include appealing to authority concerned for suitable assistance to families of those killed or injured, urging all concerned to abstain from triggering blast at public places and urge Congress party to settle differences with all concerned.
Later in the day, cremation of Ratan's mortal remains was carried out.
After completion of post-mortem at RIMS morgue, the body was carried in a procession through parts of the capital city.
