Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla visited Kangpokpi today, marking his first trip to the district since assuming office.
Breaking from tradition, the Governor has chosen to operate from the State Secretariat rather than the Raj Bhavan, signalling a hands-on approach to governance.
During his visit, he inaugurated a state-of-the-art IT Centre at Presidency College, Motbung.
Upon his arrival at Motbung Model Village, the Kuki-Zo community welcomed the Governor warmly.
Later, the Governor proceeded to the Deputy Commissioner's Office, where he met with Kuki-Zo civil society organizations, including the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC), Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, and Thadou Inpi-General Headquarters.

In the presence of district officials, including the Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi, the organizations submitted memoranda with their demands.
KZC, in the memorandum, urged the Governor to take swift action regarding their demand for a Separate Administration under a Union Territory with a legislature.
The memorandum also details district-wise challenges in Chandel, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Pherzawl, Jiribam, and Tengnoupal, calling for urgent intervention.
The Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills (KISH) also submitted a memorandum to the Governor seeking urgent resettlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs) at approved sites under the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Kangpokpi District to ensure safety and stability with adequate facilities.
KISH demanded direct access to Central Government agencies like the North Eastern Council (NEC) and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for infrastructure and welfare funding.
KISH also called for accelerated negotiations for a Separate Administration for the Kuki-Zo people, activation of helicopter service in Kangpokpi and expansion of air connectivity to key locations like Moreh, Churachandpur, and Dimapur.
During the visit in Kangpokpi, the Governor enquired about the implementation of different schemes like Jal Jeevan Mission, projects under New Development Bank (NDB), healthcare, education, etc.
Under Nikshay Mitra, the Governor adopted five TB patients and distributed fruit baskets.
He also enquired about the progress of the ongoing National Highway development projects with the NHIDCL officials.
The Governor then visited Senapati District Headquarters and inaugurated an IT Centre in the Deputy Commissioner's office complex.
The Governor also chaired a review meeting in the presence of DC, SP and DLOs and heard about the issues faced by the district administration.
Representatives of Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati District Branch also met the Governor and apprised him about their activities in the district.
