Imphal, August 20: Health and Family Welfare Minister Ph Parijat has expressed dissatisfaction over the manner of executing work in construction of a new building of Sora PHC and the condition of the Pallel PHC and Kakching Community Health Centre after an inspection today.

While coming to inspect the Pallel PHC, the Minister was in fact gheroed by the aggrieved people of the area to lodge their complaint on the existing health care facilities.

MLA of Kakching A/C Y Surchandra and MLA of Wabagai A/C Dr Usham Deben accompanied the Health Minister during the inspection.

The Ministerial team first visited to inspect the progress of the construction work ongoing on for the new office buildings of Sora PHC and came across that instead of RCC pillars, bricks are being used for the purpose.

The two accompanying MLAs drew the attention of the Minister for giving necessary instruction for proper execution of the work.

They also chided the Chief Medical Officer of Thoubal district for such sloppy nature of executing the work being taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 6 lakhs under Rural Health Mission without the knowledge of the local MLA concerned.

The Two MLAs made it clear that the local MLA should not be blamed for any untoward incident in future.

While coming to inspect the condition of the PHC at Pallel, the aggrieved people of the area stormed in to lodge complaint in connection with the lack of health care facilities at the health centre.

Apart from not having send any doctor, there are no medicines and other necessary equipments at the health centre, they apprised the Health Minister.

Consequently the Minister met the authorities of the health care unit to take stock of the available facilities and administrative work.

Dissatisfied over the manner of functioning the PHC, a visibly angry Health Minister asked the officials why two Grade-IV employees released in December last year have not yet joined at Pallel PHC and no action taken up in this regard.

Taking serious note of doctors not staying at their allotted quarters, the Minister also instructed them to put up at their quarters in the interest of the people.

Confronted with administrative lapses during the course of inspection at the Kakching Community Health Centre, the Minister instructed the Chief Medical Officer for carrying out regular inspection of the centre.

Demanding to know how the health centre is being run without issuing the quarters allotment order of the doctors despite the existence of the quarters, the Minister said there is no reason why the Government should not take up action against the officials.

Assuring appointment of two specialist doctors and sending other required medicines, he also asked the doctors to carry out their duties sincerely and with dedication.

Parijat who is also in charge of Labour and Employment inspected the condition of the ITI at Kakching during his tour today.

On seeing lack of necessary infrastructures despite the fact that the classes would commence from August 23, the Minister demanded to know why the matter is not brought to the notice of the Government.

Taking serious note over drawal of regular salary by one chowkidar and two Grade-IV employees for the last 6-7 months without ever attending to the office, the Ministerial team wondered why the salary amount should not be recovered from the salary of the officials concerned under the provisions of the Manipur Public Servant Liability Act.
