Inner PC, part of Outer go to polls today

Imphal, April 18 2024: All the 32 Assembly segments of Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency would be going to polls tomorrow together with 15 Assembly segments of Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.

Altogether 10,01,115 electors are expected to exercise their right to vote in Inner Manipur PC while 5,61,860 electors may cast their votes in Outer Manipur PC .

Four candidates are fighting for the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha seat whereas there are six candidates in Inner Manipur PC.

The remaining 13 Assembly segments of Outer Manipur PC would go to polls in the second phase on April 26 .

The candidates vying for the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha seat are INC's Angomcha Bimol Akoijam (Palm), BJP's Thounaojam Basantakumar (Lotus), RPI (Athawale)'s Maheshwar Thounaojam (Nib with seven rays), Independent candidate Moirangthem Totomsana Nongshaba (Coat), Independent candidate Rajkumar Somendro alias Kaiku (Ship) and Independent candidate Haorungbam Sarat (Football player) .

Of the total 32 Assembly segments clubbed under Inner Manipur PC, 10 are in Imphal East, 13 in Imphal West, six in Bishnupur and three in Thoubal.

There are 1319 polling stations, spread across these districts.

Imphal East district has a total of 3,26,887 voters including 27,528 in Khundrakpam AC; 34,673 in Heingang AC; 36,142 in Khurai AC; 37,187 in Kshetrigao AC; 32,195 in Thongju AC; 29,944 in Keirao AC; 36,109 in Andro AC; 30,591 in Lamlai AC; 26,325 in Yaiskul AC and 36,193 in Wangkhei AC.

Imphal West has 3,85,064 voters including 27,686 in Thangmeiband AC; 25,438 in Uripok AC; 23,774 in Sagolband AC; 27,317 in Keishamthong AC; 20,633 in Singjamei AC; 31,301 in Sekmai AC; 34,156 in Lamsang AC; 30,457 in Konthoujam AC; 37,800 in Patsoi AC; 28,375 in Langthabal AC; 35,356 in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC; 30,405 in Wangoi AC and 32,366 in Mayang Imphal AC.

There are 1,86,037 voters in Bishnupur district including 33,865 in Nambol AC; 28,460 in Oinam AC; 32,284 in Bishnupur AC; 40,538 in Moirang AC; 22,335 in Thanga AC and 28,555 in Kumbi AC.

There are 1,03,127 voters in the three Assembly segments of Thoubal district clubbed under Inner Manipur PC.

It includes 36,283 in Lilong AC; 32,730 in Thoubal AC and 34,114 in Wangkhem AC.

INC's Alfred Kanngam Arthur (Palm), NPF's Kachui Timothy Zimik (Rooster), Independent candidate Alyson Abonmai (Diamond) and Independent candidate S Kho John (Trumpet) are fighting for the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha seat.

There are 5,61,860 voters in the 15 Assembly segments of Outer Manipur PC which would go to polls tomorrow.

These 15 Assembly segments are inclusive of three Assembly segments of Thoubal district viz; Heirok, Khangabok and Wangjing Tentha and four Assembly segments of Kakching district namely; Wabagai, Kakching, Hiyanglam and Sugnu.

These seven Assembly segments have voters numbering 2,23,387 .

Heirok AC has 33,381 voters; Wangjing Tentha has 33,584; Khangabok has 37,431; Wabgai has 31,605; Kakching has 30,781; Hiyanglam has 28,084 and Sugnu has 28,512 voters.

Chandel AC with 46,785 voters; Saikul AC 30,265; Kangpokpi AC 29,072; Saitu AC 46,240, Henglep AC 30,864; Saikot AC 63,226; Churachandpur AC 65,975 and Singhat AC with 26,046 voters would also go to polls tomorrow.

Jiribam AC, Tengnoupal AC, Phungyar AC, Ukhrul AC, Chingai AC, Karong AC, Mao AC, Tadubi AC, Tamei AC, Tamenglong AC, Nungba AC, Tipaimukh AC and Thanlon AC which are also clubbed under Outer Manipur PC would vote on April 26 .

There are 10,36,936 voters in Outer Manipur PC and they shall exercise their right to vote at 1636 polling stations.

Meanwhile, a press release issued by Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur Pradeep Kumar Jha informed that over 8000 polling personnel are being deployed and all polling personnel have reached their respective polling stations.

It informed that 85 special polling stations have been set up for Internally Displaced Voters in Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts and 18091 IDPs are expected to their franchise at these special polling stations tomorrow.

Adequate CAPF have been deployed in all polling stations.

In addition, Micro Observers have been deployed in all critical polling stations and Special Polling Stations.

"Voters are expected to produce EPIC for their identification at the polling stations before casting their votes.

Those voters who are not able to produce EPIC shall produce one of the 12 alternative identity documents for establishing their identity: Aadhaar Card, MNREGA Job Card, Passbooks with photograph issued by Bank/Post Office, Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, Driving License, PAN Card, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, Indian Passport, Pension document with photograph, Service Identity Cards with photograph issued to employees by Central/State Govt/PSUs/Public Limited Companies, Official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs and Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card, M/o Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India", the CEO added.
