Scindia talks DoNER schemes with Bhalla

Union Minister of Communication and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Minister Jyotiraritya M Scindia paid a short visit to Manipur today and met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla.
He landed at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport at around 1.30 pm today from Delhi on an Indigo flight.
During his brief interaction with reporters at the airport, the Union Minister said that he would be holding a meeting with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan, but declined to answer any further questions.
After the meeting which lasted about two and a half hours, he hurried to the airport and departed for Guwahati without speaking to the media.

According to credible sources, the Union Minister visited Imphal on the advice of the Prime Minister to review implementation of DoNER schemes in the State.
However, it is not known whether the Union Minister discussed the crisis in Manipur with the Governor.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary PK Singh and other high ranking officials.
Seven MLAs also called on the Governor in the evening and apprised him of various issues of public interest.
Meanwhile, a press release from Raj Bhavan said that the Union Minister, along with officials from the Ministry of DoNER presented a comprehensive review of the status of various projects currently underway in Manipur.
Scindia highlighted several areas that require focused attention for the development of the State such as handicraft and handloom, sports, tourism, international trade, agriculture�particularly palm oil farming in the region, logistics, and the development of National Highways.
He also directed officials present at the meeting to accelerate the pace of key infrastructure projects such as universities, Manipur IT-SEZ, mental hospital, maternity and child hospital, etc.
Later, the Governor along with the Union Minister chaired a meeting of the High-Level Task Force on Sports for the NE Region.
Chief Minister of Mizoram, Deputy CM of Nagaland, Additional CS of Meghalaya, and Joint Secretary of the Department of Sports joined the meeting via video conferencing.
Various initiatives aimed at developing the region's sports sector were discussed.
The Union Minister highlighted several areas that require special attention, such as talent identification, training and coaching, establishment of coaching centres etc.
