Senapati comes alive to seed sowing fest Lui-Ngai-Ni

Senapati, February 15 2025:
Lui-Ngai-Ni, the Naga Seed Sowing Festival was cele-brated at Katomei, Senapati.
The festival was inaugurated yesterday and the inaugural function was graced by former Minister Awangbow Newmai, former MLA J Kumo Sha and former MLA L Dikho.
N Gonmei Poujan, convenor, State level organi- zing committee said Lui-Ngai-Ni is not only a cele- bration of cultural heritage but also a platform to showcase the artistic talents of the Naga community.
The festival strengthens the bond between Naga tribes, nurtures the tradition, and inspires all to carry forward the legacy of "our ancestors", Gonmei said.

Music, dances, traditional attire parade from Naga tribes, cultural night and many spectacular performances and displays marked the festival.
Ng Lorho, president, UNC underscored the significance of celebrating Lui-Ngai-Ni in preserving Nagas' rich cultural heritage.
Former MLA Leishiyo Keishing in his greetings stated that Lui-Ngai-Ni brings together all Naga tribes and strengthens love and unity among the Nagas.
Leishiyo stressed that the Naga community must promote oneness and foster good relationships among the communities.
He also urged all the Nagas to be part and parcel in building a strong Nation.
Former MLA L Dikho urged all the Nagas to celebrate one another and preserve God's creations.
He urged people to protect and preserve the environment, plants and animals.
He encouraged people to plant more trees.
Former Minister Awang-bow Newmai stated that the Nagas are known for their courage, readiness to sacrifice for a good cause, and their generosity.
The Nagas are colourful people and disciplined, he added.
Because of the far sighted vision of the past Naga leaders, the present Nagas are respected by all Nations.
In order to bring all the Nagas together, Nagas are in dialogue with the Govt of India after having signed a ceasefire, he said.
Talking about the border fencing, he said, the Nagas will not accept any artificial boundaries.
He urged people to unite and fight against evil forces trying to break the unity of the Nagas.
K Namba, chief of Maram tribe blessed the seeds to be sown and distributed seeds to 22 Naga tribe presidents.
Indigenous wrestling by the Poumai Naga tribe, blowing of buffalo horn by the Mao tribe, cultural dance from the Maring tribe, indigenous games by the Thangal tribe, folk fusion from the Mao tribe, Thangal tribe and Anal tribe marked the festival.
