Imphal, January 15 2026:
The Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) has endorsed the indefinite bandh being imposed by Ireng village along with the Joint Tribe Council (JTC) .
A statement issued by the FNCC said that the indefinite bandh will be further extended to the movement of Kuki commuters within foothill Naga areas, Old Cachar Road and National Highway-37 until the Government fully implements the MoU signed between the Government and FNCC on August 9, 2025 .

As per the MoU, the Government agreed not to establish SoO camps in the foothills areas, immediate action to destroy illegal poppy cultivation and initiation of necessary legal action against illegal road construction, it said.
Although considerable time has passed, none of these commitments have been implemented on the ground, raising serious concerns about the sincerity and accountability of the Government, it said.
The FNCC has also strongly condemned the grave and alarming threat to Ireng village and the destruction of the gate and waiting shed of the villagers by armed Kuki militants stationed at Kharam Vaiphei.
The continued presence of armed elements near peaceful Naga villages has created fear and insecurity and poses a direct threat to lives and property, it said.
The silence and inaction of the State Government in addressing these serious violations and security threats have compelled FNCC to take a firm democratic stand, it said.
The FNCC announced that it fully endorses the indefinite bandh imposed by Ireng village along with the JTC and the bandh will be further extended to the movement of Kuki commuters within Foothill Naga areas, Old Cachar Road and NH-37 until the Government fully implements the MoU in letter and spirit and ensures the safety of Naga villages.
It has also urged the Government of Manipur to act immediately, restore trust, uphold agreements, and ensure peace and security in the foothills areas.
Failing this, the foothills Nagas will be compelled to intensify its democratic agitation, it added.
