HSE results out with record 97.63 pass percentage

With a record pass percentage of 97.63, Higher Secondary Examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) created history today.
Results of HSE 2024 were declared today at COHSEM office, Babupara.
Five Government school students, two in Arts stream and three in Commerce stream, made it to the lists of position holders.
Thokchom Satyajit of EK Higher Secondary School bagged the first position in Arts stream while Khaidem Niranda of the same school and Sapam Langlen of TG Higher Secondary School shared the second position.
Jenita Longjam of EK Higher Secondary School was placed at third rank.
In Commerce stream, Aiena Naorem of Kakching Higher Secondary School, Kethallina Maisnam of TG Higher Secondary School and Longjam Aman of SDJM Higher Secondary School secured the first three positions.
Malemnganbi Laishram of Comet School secured first position in Science stream while Yumnam Khenika Devi of the same school and Mayanglambam Sania Devi of Pine Wood View School have been placed in the second and third position respectively.
Sapam Langlen and Khwairakpam Crosia Devi are the only two Government students who made it to the list of position holders in Arts stream.
Both of them are students of TG Higher Secondary School.
Aiena Naorem, Kethallina Maisnam and Khwairakpam Jenita Devi have their names in the list of Commerce stream's position holders.
All of them are students of Government-run schools.
While Aiena Naorem is a student of Kakching Higher Secondary School, the other two are students of TG Higher Secondary School.
Altogether 31,128 students appeared in the HSE 2024 and a record 30,391 students cleared the exam.
Out of 22,534 students who appeared for the exam in Science stream, 22,288 (98.91 per cent) passed the exam.
With 7527 students clearing the exam out of 7978 who gave the exam, the pass percentage in Arts stream is 94.35 per cent.
Commerce stream recorded 93.51 pass percentage as 576 out of 616 passed the exam.
Officially announcing the results, Education(S) Director L Nandakumar said that around 2000 displaced students too appeared in HSE 2024.Results of HSE 2024 have been declared in time and this deserves appreciation, he said.
HSE 2024 has created history with the highest pass percentage so far.
HSE 2024 was conducted with questions set as per the guidelines of the new National Education Policy (NEP) and this may be one major factor for the record pass percentage, Nandakumar said.
He said that the State Government has been working to implement the new NEP in totality in Manipur.
COHSEM Chairman T Ojit expressed gratitude to all the people who helped in conducting the exam successfully amidst the violent crisis.
He also lauded the contributions of the Police Department in holding the exam.
T Ojit said that they faced several difficulties in taking question papers and answer sheets across districts.
With the help of the Government, COHSEM overcame all these difficulties and successfully conducted the exam.
Question papers for the new NEP were set as per the new NEP and there were lots of options or alternative questions for many questions and there were greater numbers of multiple choice type questions, the COHSEM Chairman said.
Notably, 88.68 per cent candidates passed in HSE 2023 and the corresponding figure for HSE 2022 was 90.09 per cent.
