Imphal, April 12 2020:
The State's first COVID-19 patient from Thangmeiband who has now fully recovered was discharged from JNIMS today.
Three doctors and three nurses who were directly engaged in treating the young woman who has been studying in the United Kingdom were tested for COVID-19 and all of them turned out to be negative.
JNIMS Director Dr Th Bhimo told The Sangai Express that the woman was discharged today after samples tested negative for COVID-19 in the last three successive tests.

The woman's discharge was delayed for some days as she expressed desire to stay at the hospital for a few more days even as the hospital authority thought she was fit for discharge.
The woman told her father yesterday that she would like to join the Cheiraoba festival together with her parents at home.
Thus, the father conveyed the woman's desire to JNIMS authority last night.
Subsequently, a joint meeting of the State Health Department and JNIMS doctors was held today and the meeting decided to discharge the COVID-19 patient who has now fully recovered, said Dr Bhimo.
Nonetheless, the woman should remain in self-quarantine for 14 days starting from today.
Bathroom should be attached to the room where she is confined and if any family member should talk with her, there should be a fair distance between them, said the JNIMS Director.
Moreover, Health Department would assess her health condition every day.
After completion of the home quarantine period, she would be tested for COVID-19 again.
If she tests negative, she would be declared completely cured and she would be allowed to mingle with other people, Dr Bhimo said.
Meanwhile, the three doctors and the three nurses who treated the woman and were quarantined have been tested for COVID-19 and all of them turned out to be negative.
While the sample of one doctor was tested yesterday, the samples of the other two doctors and the three nurses were tested today.
On the other hand, all the 19 people picked up from Moreh yesterday after a man from Karnataka who visited the border town tested positive for COVID-19 at Bengaluru have been found negative, informed a source.
