Imphal, April 12 2019: Congress party has asserted that BJP is determined to implant the ideology of Hindutva and saffronise the entire North East region.

An election rally of Congress candidate O Nabakishore was held today at Mayang Imphal Iroi Bengoon Salam.

Speaking at the rally, ex-Deputy Chief Minister and CWC Member Gaikhangam said that the BJP-led NDA Government, under its Act East Policy, has been trying to impose dominant culture and religion upon the people of the whole North East region as testified by its persistent push for CAB 2016.By persistently conspiring to impose its ideology of Hindutva, BJP is determined to exterminate all the indigenous people of the North East.

As such, BJP's Act East Policy has turned out to be 'Kill East Policy', he asserted.

He said that the vast majority of people have been suffering for the past five years under BJP's authoritarian rule and the time has come to teach BJP a befitting lesson.

Claiming that only Congress can defeat BJP, Gaikhangam appealed to all the people to vote for Congress candidate O Nabakishore.

Referring to Congress party's manifesto which has promised review of AFSPA and stiff opposition to CAB 2016, Gaikhangam also spoke about Rahul Gandhi's promise to introduce a minimum income guarantee scheme which would benefit all the poor of the country in case Congress party is elected to power.

On the contrary, BJP, in the run up to the 2014 Lok Sabha election, promised to bring back black money stashed in foreign banks and deposit Rs 15 lakh each in the bank accounts of the country's poor.

But none of these promises have been fulfilled till date.

The CWC Member also promised that the number of work days guaranteed under MGNREGA would be increased from 100 to 150 if Congress party is elected to power.

In total contradiction to BJP's promise of eradicating corruption from the country, the NDA Government is embroiled in many multi-crore scams including the Rafale scam, Gaikhangam added.

Ex-Chief Minister O Ibobi said that the BJP-led Government has been providing free LPG connection in the name of welfare schemes while looting the vast majority of population by continually hiking the price of LPG.

When the people of Manipur are extremely apprehensive of the Framework Agreement signed between the NDA Government and NSCN-IM in 2015 whose details are still kept a closely guarded secret, the NDA Government put the entire North East region on flames by introducing the CAB 2016, Ibobi said.

Asserting that BJP is deceitful and communal in nature, Ibobi appealed to all the people to support the Congress candidate so as to throw out the BJP-led Government permanently.

Congress candidate O Nabakishore too spoke at the gathering.
