Cabinet approves medical college at Senapati

The State Cabinet held a meeting at the CM Secretariat, Mantripu-khri today and gave in- principle approval for setting up a Government medical college at Senapati.
The proposed medical college will have an annual intake of 100 MBBS students.
In line with the same proposed medical college, the State Cabinet agreed to upgrade Senapati district hospital to meet the requirements of a medical college.
The State Cabinet decided 2nd September, 2026 as the date for making recommendation to the Governor of Manipur to summon the Eighth Session of the Twelfth Manipur Legislative Assembly.

As decided at the Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand, cash incentive rates for medallists and participants from Manipur in the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games have been enhanced.
This will also cover the athletes from Manipur who participated in the 23rd Commonwealth Games, Glasgow 2026 .
For Commonwealth Games the incentives have been increased to Rs 20 lakh, 15 lakh, 10 lakh and 4 lakh for Gold, Silver, Bronze medallists and participants respectively.
The State Cabinet approved the appointment by promotion of L Shushila Devi to the newly created post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sports) and K Chinglensana Singh, an Olympian and Arjuna Awardee as Deputy Director (Sports Promotion) in the Youth Affairs and Sports Department.
The State Cabinet also approved the formation of a Section 8 Government company for mobilisation and utilization of CSR funds for promotion and development of sports in Manipur.
The proposed name of the company is 'Manipur Sports Development Foundation' and its composition will be by Government officials while non-official members will be from the field of sports, finance, sports science etc .
Penalty fee imposed for delay in renewal of fitness certificates of vehicles for the period from February 1, 2020 to December 31, 2025 will be reduced from the present Rs 50 per day to Rs.10 per day as a one-time measure.
The Cabinet adopted a decision to this effect today.
The State Cabinet also approved the allotment of land in Kha Bishnupur to the All Bishnupur District Working Journalists for construction of office building cum press club.
