Imphal, August 09 2026: Chief Minister Yumnam Khem-chand has categorically stated that there will be no development if the different communities living in Manipur think and act exclusively for their respective communities.

The Chief Minister today led a Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra from Ibudhou Luwangpokpa ground, Singjamei Chingamakha.

The march participated by over 1000 people wrapped up at Yumjao Lairembi ground, Yumnam Leikai where a formal function was held.

Speaking at the gathering, the Chief Minister Y asserted that Manipur was protected by all the communities collectively throughout history.

Manipur existed as an independent kingdom in South East Asia.

After regaining independence from the British rulers, Manipur became the first Nation in South East Asia to have an elected Government with its own Constitution.

Khemchand said that the Speaker of the first Legislative Assembly of independent Manipur formed after holding elections in 1947 was a Paite from Churachandpur.

Throughout its long history, all the communities of Manipur stood and fought together against external aggression.

All the communities took active part in driving out Burmese invaders at the end of the Seven Years' Devastation, Khemchand said.

"The Tricolour reminds us all that we are citizens of India", the Chief Minister stated.

Just as one loves his/her family, every one should love the Nation.

It was with this belief that the Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra is celebrated, he said.

There can be no development if the communities think and act only for their own respective communities, the Chief Minister stated.

Being the majority community, Meiteis should don the role of a big brother and take along all other communities in safeguarding the integrity of Manipur, Khemchand said.

The Chief Minister said that he went to Kangpokpi along with many MLAs yesterday and they were received warmly by the people there.

Contrary to the apprehension of what will happen if one goes to or through Kangpokpi, nobody reflected any intention of barring Nagas or Meiteis from passing through Kangpokpi, Khemchand stated.

He expressed strong suspicion that certain elements have been driving wedges to create conflict among the communities.

"Together with some MLAs, I visited Jiribam and shared a feast with Kuki, Paite and Hmar people reflecting reconciliation and harmony.

On the next morning after I returned from Jiribam, two toddlers were killed in a deadly attack at Tronglaobi and their mother sustained grievous injuries", Khemchand said before asking whether a Government would plant bombs.

All must know that there are certain elements who are deadly opposed to the Government and hell bent on creating unrest, he added.

Khemchand then appealed to all sections of people to work collectively in order to realise a Viksit Manipur under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 .

BJP Manipur Pradesh in-charge Dr Ajit Gopchade, BJP Manipur Pradesh president and Rajya Sabha Member A Sharda, MLA Joykisan and Government spokesman Thokchom Radheshyam too attended the programme organised by BJP Singjamei Mandal.

Lauding Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand's efforts to protect the State's integrity, A Sharda asserted that people should support the Chief Minister's visit to Churachandpur and Kangpokpi.
