Imphal, June 07: The Governor has announced ex-gratia amount of Rs 1 Lakh each for the five non-Manipuri traders, who were shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Naohallai ground located about 2 kms east of Kakching police station yesterday at about 9.30pm.The deceased are identified as Gulapchand Prasad(47), Krishna Prasad(44) , Kamlesh Prasad(20), Kashlesh Prasad(18) and Deepak Nepali.

While the four prasads hailed from Arya district of Bihar, the last name s was a resident of Srou.

Gulapchand Prasad and Krishna Prashad are brothers while Kamlesh Prasad and Kashlesh Prasad are sons of Gulachand.

They were all staying in a rented house at Kakching Ningthou Leikai.

Reports said they were called out by unidentified gunmen and later shot dead at Naohallai ground.

Police said on immediate receipt of information additional forces led by DGP rushed to the spot and conducted a massive manhunt to track down the killers.

However there is no report of any arrest so far.

Search operations are being carried out at various places under the DIG (Range III).

Police said the killers may be members of the PULF and they took away Rs 1.26.000 and some gold ornaments form the house.

Advisor EN Rammohon also visited the place of incident today, added police.

Kakching police recovered some empty case of AK-47 rifles and .38 pistol form the spot of the incident.

Kakacing bazar downed shutters today to protest the killings of the traders.

Around 3000 people joined the funeral procession.

Assembly Speaker Dr Dhananjoy has severely condemned the �brutal and inhuman� killings of the five non Manipuris.

The Speaker appealed to all not to indulge in such acts of violence in the interest of the general public.

He also shared that grief and pain of the bereaved families.

The All Manipur 407 Mini Tata Owners� cum Drivers� Welfare Association said that Gulachand and his brother Krishna were founder members of the Association.

To protest against their killing s the Association will suspend service on June 9.Strongly condemning the killings the Association in a statement said on December 12 last year four non Manipuri traders were also gunned down at Sugnu.

One of them Rajarath Sharma was also a founder member of the Association, said the statement.

The statement appealed to all concerned to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
