Fates of 11 MLAs now in Speaker's hands

The Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker's Tribunal has once again reserved its judgement on the disqualification cases of five NPP MLAs and one JD(U) MLA.
Now the fates of 11 MLAs are in the hands of the Speaker.
After reserving its judgement on the disqualification cases of the five MLAs elected on JD(U) tickets yesterday, the tribunal heard six other disqualification cases from 11.30 am today.
The hearing went on till around 2.30 .
After listening to both the petitioners and the respondents, the Speaker announced that the judgement has been reserved.

Notably, four of the six disqualification cases were filed by MPCC vice president Hareshwar Goswami against NPP MLAs Mayanglambam Rame-shwar, Thongam Shanti, Janghemlung Panmei and Irengbam Nalini.
The fifth case was filed by one Sapam Shamungou against NPP MLA Khu-raijam Loken.
The other disqualification case was filed by one Thok-chom Sur against JD(U) MLA Md Abdul Nasir.
After the hearing, advocate N Bhupenda who re- presented petitioner Haresh-war Goswami said that the fates of the 11 MLAs would now be determined by the judgements of the Speaker.
"On behalf of my client, I made an oral submission for around one hour at my best level and prayed the tribunal to take up necessary action against the MLAs who violated the Constitution's 10th Schedule", Bhupenda said.
After listening to both the parties, the Speaker made an announcement that his judgements on the disqualification cases have been reserved.
The Speaker also made it clear that the parties concerned may present written submissions at the tribunal by 1 pm of February 9, he said.
Notably, the same tribunal reserved its judgement on the disqualification cases filed against MLAs Ngursanglur Sanate, Md Achab Uddin, Thangjam Arunkumar, LM Khaute and Khumukcham Joykisan on Friday.
