It has been more or less confirmed - Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Manipur on September 13 and address high-profile meetings at Churachandpur Peace Ground and Imphal's Kangla.
Apart from addressing the events, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate some projects, lay foundation stones for some others, and meet the internally displaced people (IDPs) .
Moreover, a Special Protection Group (SPG) team will arrive in Manipur on September 9 to provide security for the Prime Minister during his visit.
This will be his first visit to the State since ethnic violence erupted on May 3, 2023 as his last visit was on January 4, 2019, when he laid the foundation stones for various projects at Hapta Kangjeibung.

As reported, the Governor convened a closed-door meeting with BJP MLAs and party president A Sharda Devi in the presence of top Government officials including Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel and Director General of Police Rajiv Singh today at Raj Bhavan.
The meeting which started from 11 am and lasted about 40 minutes was attended by 23 BJP MLAs viz former Chief Minister N Biren Singh (Heingang), Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Satyabrata (Yaiskul), Y Khemchand (Sngjamei), Dipu Gangmei (Nungba), Th Radheshyam (Heirok), Dr S Ranjan (Konthoujam), H Dingo (Sekmai), Th Shyamkumar (Andro), Karam Shyam (Langthabal), K Robindro (Mayang Imphal), T Robindro (Thanga), P Brojen (Wangjing Tentha), Th Basantakumar (Nambol), L Rameshwar (Keirao), Kh Raghumani (Uripok), S Kunjakeswor (Patsoi), Kh Ibomcha (Lamlai), RK Imo (Sagolband), S Rajen (Lamsang), S Premchandra (Kumbi), Dr U Deben (Wabagai), Dr Y Radheshyam (Hiyanglam) and SS Olish (Chandel) .
Thongju AC MLA Th Biswajit, Bishnupur AC MLA Govindas Konthoujam, Khurai AC MLA L Susindro and Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC MLA S Kebi didn't attend the meeting.
According to a report received by The Sangai Express, Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan, Wangkhei AC MLA Th Arunkumar and Jiribam AC MLA Ashab Uddin who won the 12th State Assembly elections on JD (U) ticket but later joined the BJP weren't invited to the meeting.
Even as the official agenda of the meeting was not made public, the Governor sought cooperation from the attendees to ensure the success of the Prime Minister's visit on September 13, according to some BJP MLAs who attended the meeting.
The meeting focused on discussing measures and preparedness to ensure the success of the Prime Minister's visit, they said.
The source added that all 59 MLAs will be invited to the events in Churachandpur and Imphal, but they won't share the stage with the Prime Minister.
Additionally, there is currently no provision for the MLAs to have a separate meeting with the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister will stay in Manipur for around three hours after arriving from Mizoram by helicopter, according to the source.
It added that the Prime Minister will spend around an hour each at the two venues and also meet internally displaced persons (IDPs) of both the warring communities.
The source stated that the Prime Minister will arrive at Churachandpur around 12.30 pm and at Imphal around 2.30 pm.
The Prime Minister is also expected to inaugurate some projects and Bhavans including Kolkata Manipur Bhavan, Civil Secretariat office and Police Headquarters at Chingmeirong.
He will also lay foundation stones for some projects.
Arrangements are being made for a massive gathering of around 15,000 people at Kangla and 9,000 in Churachandpur.
Following the events, the Prime Minister will travel by road to Bir Tikendrajit International Airport and depart from Imphal.
