Imphal, June 05 2024: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has congratulated INC candidates Angomcha Bimol Akoijam and Alfred Kanngam S Arthur on their victory in the 18th Lok Sabha elections, the results of which were declared yesterday.

Winning the Inner Manipur Parliamentary seat, INC's Angomcha Bimol Akoijam beat his closest rival BJP's Thounaojam Basanta Kumar by a huge margin of 1,09,801 votes.

Angomcha Bimol Akoijam secured a total of 3,74,017 votes against Thounaojam Basanta Kumar's 2,64,216.INC's Alfred Kanngam S Arthur beat his closest rival NPF's Kachui Timothy Zimik by a comfortable margin of 85,418 votes in the Outer Parliamentary seat.

Alfred Kanngam S Arthur secured 3,84,954 votes against Kachui Timothy Zimik's 2,99,536 votes.

On Facebook, Chief Minister N Biren Singh posted, "I congratulate INC candidates Angomcha Bimol Akoijam and Alfred Kanngam S Arthur for their respective victories at 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency and 2-Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency in the 18th Lok Sabha Elections..".

Accepting the results as the mandate of the public, in the post, N Biren said his Government will work with the elected representatives for development and growth of all sections in the State.

"The public has given its mandate, and what truly matters is that we all aspire for the welfare of all the indigenous people of the State.

Under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji, the BJP Government will continue to work with the elected representatives towards the growth and development of all sections in the State.

"We remain firm in our commitment to work towards serving the masses and building a better Manipur for future generations," read the CM's post.

In a separate post on Facebook, the Chief Minister also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on NDA's "remarkable victory" in the elections and said, the success is a testament of the trust and faith people have in Modi's leadership.

The CM's post read, "Heartiest congratulations to Hon'ble PM Narendra Modi ji and the entire NDA on the remarkable victory in the Lok Sabha election.

This resounding success is a testament to the trust and faith the people of India have placed in your visionary leadership.

"Under the dynamic guidance of PM Modi Ji, the National Democratic Alliance has achieved significant milestones in ensuring inclusive growth and development, transforming the lives of millions across the country.

May this victory pave the way for continued progress and prosperity for our great nation".

It may be noted that the NDA won 293 seats against INDIA'S 232 in the elections.

BJP alone won 240 seats as INC secured 99 seats.
