Imphal, August 04 2026: Chief Minister Yumnam Khem-chand has announced that the State Government will allot necessary land for setting up a permanent campus of NIT Manipur within Kakching Assembly Constituency.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the 13th convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur at the City Convention Centre here when he said this today.

Yumnam Khemchand said that NIT Manipur is an emerging premier institute for higher technical education in the entire North East region.

He appealed to all NIT Manipur graduates to contribute towards realising the goal of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 .

Addressing the graduating students, the Chief Minister congratulated them on successfully completing their academic journey and wished them success in their future endeavours.

He said that NIT Manipur has a vital role to play in the development of both the State and the Nation.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the State Government's commitment to establishing a permanent campus for NIT Manipur, stating that the Government is actively working towards this objective.

He also acknowledged the support of Rameshwar Singh, MLA of Kakching Assembly Constituency, in taking forward this vision, adding that discussions would continue with the stakeholders concerned to facilitate allotment of land for the permanent campus at the earliest.

Highlighting the importance of technical education in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, Yum-nam Khemchand said that graduates from disciplines such as Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering will play a significant role in Nation-building.

He expressed confidence that institutions like NIT Manipur would contribute immensely towards realising the Prime Minister's vision of Viksit Bharat.

Describing NIT Manipur as one of the emerging premier technical institutions in the North Eastern Region, the Chief Minister urged the graduating students to strive for excellence, become future administrators, innovators and leaders, and dedicate their knowledge and skills towards the progress of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Manipur.

Taking to the social media, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand wrote, "It was a privilege to attend the 13th Convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur as the Chief Guest at the City Convention Centre, Imphal.

"Congratulated the graduating students on this remarkable achievement and encouraged them to lead with integrity, embrace innovation and contribute meaningfully to society and nation-building.

"Our youth are the greatest strength of Manipur.

The Government remains committed to empowering them through quality education, innovation and greater opportunities to build a brighter and more prosperous future" .

He also conveyed best wishes to all the graduates for continued success in their journey ahead.

In his address, Chairperson of the Board of Governors Bajrang Lal Bagra congratulated the graduating students and encouraged them to uphold the values of integrity, innovation and service.

He emphasised that education should be guided by ethics and compassion, and urged the graduates to contribute meaningfully towards Nation-building and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 .

During the convocation, the Chief Minister, along with the Chairperson of the Board of Governors and the Director, presented gold medals and awards to meritorious students in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements.

Among those present at the programme were Prof.DVLN Somayajulu, Director, NIT Manipur; Prof.Khumukcham Tomba Singh, Registrar, members of the Board of Governors and Academic Senate, deans, faculty members, officers and staff, graduating students, parents and invited guests.
