Imphal, March 04 2012: Even as 63 polling stations spanning across nine Assembly Constituencies went for a repoll, without any major incident today, adjourned re-poll would be held at four polling stations tomorrow as polling officials could not reach them today.

Significantly, only a single vote was cast in 47/46 Keiye & Rafii polling station of Karong AC, breaking the record for the lowest voter turn out in all polling stations.

Polling officials deputed to the four polling stations of Tamei AC could not reach their stations due to landslides on the way.

Nevertheless, re-poll was held smoothly in 63 other polling stations amidst some minor incidents.

A few rounds of shots were fired in Willong polling station of Tadubi AC this morning.

Similar incidents of gun shots were also reported from Ikoumullam polling station of Saikul AC and Kharasom polling station of Chingai AC.

However, there is no report of any major untoward incident.

Three Congress workers reportedly abducted by unidentified persons were reportedly rescued by a group of women this afternoon as the voting hour drew to an end.

Voters turn out for the repoll amid tight security Chandel Assembly Constituency

The 26 polling stations of Chandel AC and Tengnoupal which went to re-poll today recorded 89.04 poll percentage while polling stations in Senapati district recorded 61 per cent.

Lungthul L polling station of Singhat AC recorded 40 per cent while Kharasom polling station of Chingai AC recorded 73.88 per cent.

Out of eight polling stations of Tamei AC which should have gone to re-poll today, re-poll was held in only four polling stations as polling officials could not reach Makuinong, Lemta, Kadi and Dunong polling stations on account of landslide between Dailong and Sompram.

The ECI has already decided that adjourned re-poll would be held in these polling stations tomorrow.

After the voting is over, presiding officers as well as EVMs would be airlifted using helicopter so that they can reach district headquarters before counting of vote begins next day.

Today too, EVM and the presiding officer of Namtiram polling stations were airlifted from Azuram as soon as the voting process was over.

NPF Manipur in-charge Zeliang who is also Planning Minister of Nagaland was made to turn back from Mao as no persons other than voters were allowed entry within a 100 Km radius of polling stations.

Joint CEO N Praveen remarked that today's re-poll was quite peaceful.

He informed that EVMs and presiding officers of ten polling stations of Chandel AC and three polling stations of Tamei would be airlifted tomorrow.

Counting process in all the 18 counting halls would be webcast live.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate Francis Ngajokpa has asserted that gun shots reported from Willong polling station this morning were fired by supporters of NPF candidate K Raina.

He said that a complaint has been lodged with the ECI to take befitting action against K Raina.

K Raina maintained that the gun shots were fired by his escorts as he and his agents were denied entry by Congress workers.

He said that he too has filed a complaint with ECI demanding re-poll in Sangkhomai, Willong and Razamai polling stations.
