Imphal, December 27: Kabaddi player Huidrom Usharani (27) who represented the State at the Punjab National Games suddenly collapsed at the residence of her coach this morning and later died at RIMS hospital.

Unofficial sources said the girl consumed poison.

According to reports, Usharani collapsed this morning at 6.30 at the residence of her kabaddi coach Kh Maipak (38) at Meitram Awang Leikai.

Usharani was immediately rushed to RIMS hospital but doctors attending on her failed to revive her and the end came at 8.30 am, said sources.

Maipak also accompanied Usharani to the hospital.

The kabaddi player who represented the State in the Punjab National Games was a player of Beneficial Club, Meitram Awang Leikai.

Maipak is the coach of the club�s kabaddi team.

Parents said the 27 year old girl left a suicide note addressed to them.

In the note she said that Maipak, who violated her, had been cheating on her all the while and finally decided to tie the knot with another girl.

Unable to bear the humiliation she decided to take the extreme step ending her own life, the note said.

The girl asked her parents never to forgive Maipak and to sever all ties with him.

Even the chemical she consumed was given to her by Maipak, the suicide note mentioned.

Later at 10.45 am irate mob burnt the house of the coach.

The fire brigade put off the fire and little damage was caused, local said over telephone.

Post mortem was conducted at RIMS morgue and the dead body was handed over to family members.

However while the body was being taken to the residence of the deceased Maipak and his father who were present all along allegedly disappeared suddenly.

This incensed the local meira paibis and local people.

They refused to take the body any further until Maipak and his father re-appear.

The body was dumped at the coach�s residence.

Even after the body was kept at the courtyard of Maipak, no male members of the coach came forward.

This led to more anger and only the arrival of police personnel led by the Bishnupur SP managed to cool down the frayed tempers.

Police arranged a talk between the father of Maipak and Usharani and only left after the two elders agreed that they would avoid violence or confrontation of any sort.

However, local people are still firm their stand that the last rites would not be performed until Maipak is produced.

The father of Usharani, Mangi, who is a police SI attached with Patsoi police station told this paper that Usharani left home at 5.30 am today to meet Maipak.

The suicide note was discovered in a trunk inside the room of Usharani, he said.

Maipak and his family members were not available for their comments.
