Social Stigma
Chongtham Ronikumar *
In my locality, I walk
Bound by norms and customs -
But unseen chains
Pull me down.
Obstructions rise,not of my making,
Yet I stumble,
Wounded by proxy hands
That wish my failure
In the civil service race Of our state.
I have done no wrong ,
No harm,
Yet their eyes accuse,
Their silence condemns.
I am poor -
But rich in heart .
I carry risks
Like sacred vows ,
Holding them close
For the dream I chase:
To publish my book
Before the world -
With pride .
Someday, I believe
I"11 offer mankind something true -
Even if they see it
Only in hindsight .
I walk in truth ,
In God's quiet gaze,
With all my acts.
