Self-defence
Chongtham Ronikumar *
I'm not granted grace at first -
My past,a script of foolish thirst.
But light begins to softly gleam.
A whisper in a walking dream.
In sudden bloom, positivity
Unfolds its arms inside of me.
I bow before the One who calls
To cleanse our steps through shadowed halls.
This humbling fire becomes my shield,
A quiet strength I slowly wield.
Not as the best, nor flawless mind
But as a seeker , true and kind.
The scholar's glow, the shining race.
Like cyclists striving , pace by pace -
All stumble, stop, or lose their track ,
Yet one walks may still come back.
No crown is fixed on wisdom's brow;
It bends to none , but meets the vow
Of those who strive through loss and pain
To seek the truth and break the chain.
True knowledge cannot be confined -
It lives within the honest mind .
And in that quest , I find defence -
A grace reborn through diligence.
