Chongtham Ronikumar *
First, my mother-in-law shall steep the day,
With tea that clears the morning's gray .
Then, I, cook with pots in hand ,
Shall feed the flock, as I had planned -
Lunch and dinner, every plate ,
For kin and kind at daily rate.
They call me problematic -fair .
A homemaker with flair (and flaring stare),
But see ! My husband's loyal stand ,
He lifts me with his steady hand.
Together, we shall rise and gleam,
To build the rude queen's global dream .
Not soft, not sweet, but sharp and bold ,
A crown of fire, not of gold.
