Where are we headed for? Imposition of such a ban is not the solution and any right thinking person will understand it. Yes, there are cases of plagiarism, whether be it the music, the lyric or the whole plot. And this is really embarrassing for us.

It would be a lot better if they do not make any movies at all if they cannot come up with their own ideas and adhere to the socio-cultural ethos of our society.

But we should not also forget that we are living in a fast changing world, we are not confined to one single unit.

And feature films are definitely not made for the sole purpose of highlighting the cultural heritage of a particular society, for that one can always turn to documentary filmmaking.

It's really shocking and disgusting that scenes of "embracing" should not be shot and women should not wear "trousers". Are we always going to depend on symbolism.....two flowers touching each other and leaving it to the viewers to interpret on their own about the implied notion???

Then suddenly my six-year-old brother asks me what's happening, what's the significance of the flowers touching. I'm at a loss.

It makes thing a lot more complicated. My kid brother would have understood if they (the male and the female) simply embraced each other and it would not look a bit vulgar too.

It's high time we stopped treating expression of feelings as some kind of a taboo. Why should expression of feelings be restricted, why is it considered immoral to show what we feel from the heart.

There is a difference between nudity and obscenity.

A person with a dirty mind will see dirt in a mother breast feeding her baby. And what we see in Manipuri films are nothing compared to what we have seen in Hindi and English movies.

But I'm neither comparing it with these other two nor taking them as a scale for our acceptability. Just pointing out that we haven't crossed the line.

Why do some people tend to be so chauvinistic??? And what's the problem with women wearing trousers??? Is it because we didn't invent trousers and our mothers and grandmothers never wore it???

Is it against our culture and tradition to wear it??? Yes, it's definitely against our culture and tradition if someone is wearing it on special occasions (you know it, right?).

But if wearing a trouser for a movie shot becomes unacceptable to some right thinking people because it's not our tradition and culture, it's definitely going to disturb a lot of other right thinking people.

Look at any of the developed countries, (and mind you I'm not among those who are only aware of weekends and blind to the five days of hard work the people in the West commit to) they have the highest respect for women.

And Russia, the communist block, their men never had any problems with their womenfolk wearing trousers and like the Manipuris, they didn't invent it too. But it's the practicality of thing which they accept....and progress.

It would not be right to impose a band on filmmaking just because the "others" ideas don't match "ours". If that is the case then a lot of disturbing questions are bound to arise.

And who knows I might end up somewhere in the middle of nowhere in a pool of blood.....dubbed reactionary.

I do agree that steps need to be taken up to stop from being ruined by the present decadence. The corrective measure doesn't have to be so harsh.

One more passing thought...if in the future someone decides to make a grand movie based on Khongjom War, what will we do?

Stick to the gun and prohibit outsiders from being cast in the movie?
