It is an undeniable fact that Manipur which described by Lord Irwin as the 'Switzerland of India' and by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru as "Jewel of India ", has been experiencing various kinds of social maladies whish are eating up our motherland gradually.

The present scenario, which are witnessing is really pathetic with so many social and economic issues, which are to bear by the public and are burning like a wildfire. It will be not wrong to say that one more issue, which is adding oil to already existing wildfire, is "drug abuse" among the teenager of our state.

The term drug abuse is not a new term to the people of Manipur. It is a common gender in our land. We have already gained our reputation because of this term for holding top positions in the map of "HIV-infected State of India".

It is said that one of the virtue of men is the capacity to learn from the past mistake. But our youngsters have not learned from the past mistakes and they are again repeating the same mistakes.

The recent trend which has clouded our horizon is the used of drug in the form of tablet among the youngsters and seems like a latest fashion among them. It will be not wrong to mention that their mind is occupied with the very polluted thought that those who do not take drugs are outdated.

The most popular drugs which is used by the teenage is Spasmo Proxivon(S.P.)Theremay be hardly any person who does not heard of S.P..

According to International Journal on Drug Policy issue, march 2005"The North east Harm Reduction Network estimates the no of S.P. injectors in Manipur alone to be about 5000 and there are many undocumented cases of death and amputation". This is really an alarming condition and something needs to be done before it is too late to save the present generation.

It is said that "to the question of your life you are the only answer, to the problem of your life you are the only solution" SO the ultimate answer lies in their hand with the supporting hands of people around them to deal with this complicated issue.

It will be of some help to them for the self-realization if they know the adverse effects the drugs give to the body system.

Spasmo Proxivon (S.P) which contain dextropropoxyphene belongs to the therapeutic category of narcotics and analgesics i.e. painkiller. The mechanism of action of these drugs inside the body is to reduce pain by binding to opiate receptors in the CNS (Central Nervous System) causing inhibition of ascending pain pathway and produces generalized CNS depression.

The adverse effects of S.P. are increased liver enzymes, hypotension which is low blood pressure, dizziness, sedation, paradoxical excitement, fatigue, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, constipation, neuromuscular and skeletal weakness, decreased urination, urethral spasms i.e. a strong involuntary contraction of the muscles of ureters

Lets also try to see from the dimension of philosophy of life so that it helps them to bring some rectification in their life.

It is true that a drug addict create great trauma to the family in particular and to the society in general. But they give their explanation that drugs give instant pleasure. Then are not they selfish for just seeking their own pleasure and not for the family and the person who are near and dear to them?

It is always better to keep in their mind that drug is nothing but a "monster" that eats up there body, mind and soul gradually and ultimately made them to surrender to death. But why should they surrender their precious life to death just for the sake of instant and transitory pleasure?

Life is the precious gift of God and we should always try to celebrate the every moment of our life at the fullest in a positive and healthy way and not in a negative way.

God gifted our precious soul to make ourselves happy and also others. Each and everyone are unique in their own ways and we should always try to celebrate this uniqueness by following positive path.

It is true that the outside circumstances have the power to harm or bless us. But it is in the mind of the person to interpret that circumstances either in good or bad way. Say in case of drugs, it has the power to destroy or save our life, so the choice is ours.

So guys, come out from that "cocoon" and begin to control your thoughts to discipline your mind and to rebuild the inward soul to eliminate those useless thought of taking drugs for transitory enjoyment of your life and incorporates into yourself thoughts of everlasting joy, peace and compassion .You should be allow to pampered by your family and not by drugs.

There is no word "impossible" and everything is possible with courage and dedication. You guys are most wanted at this hour of need to build "new Manipur" where there will be only one words "development".

You are the builders, hope and aspiration for future Manipur
