6 Manipuris met in Bangalore in 2007. They had a common interest - Rock Music. What began as casual jam sessions amidst music aficionados, culminated into the inception of HeavyWater stemming out of the sheer passion and the unconscious kinship shared. HeavyWater is a Hard Rock/Metal band formed and based in Bangalore. All members work full time in various capacities with different employers. But they had been able to keep this "love of music" alive during their hectic work life. They love playing to rock enthusiasts who would gather at 'Legends of Rock', 'Unwind Center' and Sunday Jams. They have also played for large audiences such as the 'Freedom Jam' and various 'CultFest' in South India.

These 6 Manipuris share a common goal to define a mature and unique Hard Rock sound for themselves. Now, Heavy Water is quite a known name in the semi-pro circuit of Bengaluru city. They even have a couple of their own compositions recorded already. You could log into e-pao radio to check out their first recorded track 'One Tune Down'.

In their growing up years in Manipur, the term 'Rock' is a connotation for a 'vice' that was vastly seen as the indulgence of a wastrel. These young men have found an anchor for their very existence on the same term. For all the professional advancement, success and opulence obtained, the passion for life and love has been fueled even more by the presence of music in their lives.

The joy of playing to the Imphal crowd had been itching them for quite a while and this July, they are going to hit that Home Run too. Not all members of HeavyWater are new to the rock circuit of Imphal. Meghanath had been part of ' TheYoung Ones'. Martin was part of 'Valkyrie'. Amarzyt was with 'On the Verge'. Bolin, Bankim (aka Abu) and Mocha have not played in Manipur though Bolin has been part of bands in Mumbai and Chennai earlier. Together as HeavyWater, they have not played at an Imphal venue. As they rehearse for the upcoming home run concert, the anxiety is written large on their faces - the anxiety of playing to the Imphal crowd, about the sound quality and acceptance of their music.

It is with an irrefutable sense of allegiance to home and hearth and their homeland's "calling" that has resulted in their self struggle to battle against all odds in an attempt to travel back home all together. HeavyWater at the "HOME RUN Concert" is a journey which speaks not about a performance, but a journey worth trodden, as after all, Home is where the heart is! The motive of the gig is to interact with the music loving people and above all to share a good time together.

Romi from Delhi, another die hard rocker, and a good friend of HeavyWater, will also be delivering a few classic hard rock covers as a guest. The band is also expected to invite some of the rock veterans of Manipur on stage and perform together.

Catch the meitei boys live in concert on 23 July 2009 at GM Hall, Imphal.
They promise to treat you with covers, interpretations and originals.
The event is being organized by River Boat, an Imphal-based Event Management team. River Boat has in the past organized well known shows such as Metronome, A Minor and B Minor.
