TEDxImphal - What an Idea!

Ideas do not pay taxes, ideas do not need visas to travel abroad, and ideas do not need to apply for citizenship anywhere under the sun. Ideas are like universal citizens. Born free and care free in their own manners, a bunch of ideas on your mind can greatly influence you and your society. You can in fact do so many things with ideas that sparkle.

I earnestly believe that if each one of us makes the best use of every positive idea, our dream to see 'A Chaos-Proof, Violence Free Cheerful Manipur' would be somehow possible. While some people might disagree, I'm someone who believes in the power of ideas and how they can really shape and change many lives.

Yes, I am gradually relating myself to the theme of my write up on why TEDxImphal is such a good idea. The first of its kind, about which has already been written on E-Pao earlier.

And, it is not just me who thinks TEDxImphal is a good idea. When I spoke to the organizers to do some research on the event, they mentioned about the support they are getting from various people/firms.

E-Pao.net - the main sponsor of TEDxImphal has encouraging views for the organizing team. On being asked why they were keen to sponsor this event, Team E-Pao said (of course attached with a broad smile )-

'Youths are the pillars of the nation. They cannot work in isolation. They need to be empowered with knowledge and connected to others. E-Pao firmly believes in the power of innovation, information and of knowledge dissemination. TED is a very inspiring platform with a global approach. TEDxImphal which is the locally organized TED event believes in collating and disseminating Ideas that are worth spreading. That sounds like a perfect blend with E-Pao's credos.

Besides, it is pretty encouraging to know that the organizers of TEDxImphal are a young team who has come from different career fields with varied experiences. Their drive to expose the innovations, struggles and the unique stories from within Imphal (and Manipur) is quite commendable. These stories will give strength to others. It will surely inspire others to create their own success stories. With all these possibilities and the buzzing energy, anyone should be ready to associate with this kind of event.

Another sponsor for the event, Mayum Networks reiterated the same. They wanted to be part of the event as they think "this is a good platform to share the story of those local heroes whose stories, positive stories, needs to be shared with a wider audience". They themselves have been doing something similar and when they came to know about an event with similar ideas and vision, they were happy to partner and help in any way they can.

The Classic Hotel, made the job of the organizers much easier when they offered to sponsor the venue of the event. They did so as they felt that “an event like TEDx needs to be encouraged in a place like Manipur." They hoped that many people will get inspired by such an event. They are looking forward to more such events in Manipur.

ManipurTalks - A discussion forum for all things Manipur said "there are far too many bright sides of Manipur than the regular mind numbing news. There are lots of inspirational stories which are deemed less important by the media due to which we need to find or develop new avenues to highlight these. TEDxImphal is one such!". MT has been helping the TEDxImphal team with some valuable suggestions coming from their members. They are also raising some funds for TEDxImphal.

The list goes on... NAMA (North American Manipur Association) read about the event on E-Pao and said they were "happy to know that a TED-like event is going to be held in Imphal, Manipur and would like to endorse the event and extend any kind of support". They were thrilled that people are coming together to share ideas, ideas to inspire and hopefully bring about positive change in Manipur.

Haskem, a Singapore based company founded by a Manipuri also shared their happiness on discovering that a TEDx event will be held in Manipur. They also extended their heartiest support!

That is a lot of motivation right there- An endorsement that 'TEDxImphal is indeed a very good idea’!
