We have the pleasure to inform you that a discussion is being held on the 29th and 30th December 2007 at Hotel Blue Moon, Latasil, near Latasil play ground, Guawahati on the subject of the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution vis-a-vis the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in North East India.

As you are aware there is immense interest across India regarding the potential of the Sixth Schedule to meet the aspirations of indigenous people, yet even in the region a comprehensive understanding is still to emerge.

As such, it is expected that this discussion will allow the participant discussants to share the experiences and knowledge and thereby arrive at some common understanding of the Sixth Schedule and its issues in the region.
