Wake Up My People Wake up
Ningson wanbe *
My people, how long will you sleep,
Under the breath of money?
Sleep of the too well fed,
Aware but raise not a voice,
Why wait to be washed away.
How long will you sleep, oh! My people?
When your own language is merging,
And when your culture is fading,
Why pity not your own identity,
Why pour tears for the coming generations.
Oh! We have been sleeping a sleep,
Where bully are acclaim as heroes,
Conqueror accept praises within ourselves,
Where voices are silent for defaulter's,
And make our right to be erode.
My people, do not be like a sheep,
Whose shepherd had misled you,
Whose leader is a liar and corrupt,
Where voices are silent for them,
And bigots haunt the airwaves.
Wake up! My people, wake up!
For nothing is more dangerous,
Then sincere ignorance and stupidity.
And for a few, a people like us,
Once we are lost, we will be a history.
