Silent Half of the Sun
Dr Laxman Mishra *
He walks ahead, his shoulders high,
A sun beneath the Indian sky.
She walks beside, a step behind,
A shadow shaped with love aligned.
His name is known, his voice commands,
The world responds to his two hands.
She speaks in silence, tends the fire,
Her strength concealed, yet never dire.
He greets the world with rising might,
She folds the dawn into the night.
Where he is firm, she learns to bend,
But still, she holds what he defends.
He builds, he breaks, he dreams aloud,
She bears, she weaves, beneath the shroud.
Though unseen in the noonday blaze,
Her presence walks through all his days.
In temples old, and tales retold,
She guards the hearth with heart of gold.
He shines, she staysa quiet grace,
Yet both complete the same embrace.
Not lesser soul, not paler flame,
But one who chose the softer name.
In every sun, a shadow lies-
A woman strong with lowered eyes.
And though the world may see just one,
The truth is both - shadow and sun.
