Cocoon of Despair
Dr Ranbir Laishram *
Are we surviving or dead?
Trapped in a cocoon, a desolate breath
Away from mainstream, prosperity, and life
Away from bursting life, a distant, fading strife
Cornered by bands, blockades, and hate
Rivalry and unending conflicts, an endless weight
Some thrive on darkness, on fear and on pain
Drug trafficking, terrorizing, and extortion, a bloody gain
Some on arson, cheating, and human trafficking too
Abduction, kidnapping, and ransom, a heartless crew
Some on corruption, dream world, and media warfare
Some in politics, infighting, without a care
Some in relief camps, a temporary reprieve
But who suffers the most?
The poor, the underprivileged, they grieve
Not the crorepati, nor the politicians, but they
The poor, the underprivileged, bear the weight and pain each day
The wise keep silent, the intelligent avoid the fray
The average people raise their voice, but what difference does it make each day?
The poor and underprivileged solely cry
Their voices unheard, their pain, a never-ending sigh
The drug mafia laughs, as they reap their bloody gain
Are we still alive or dead?
A haunting refrain
