Apoptosis: A Lament for Kangleipak
Dr Ranbir Laishram *
In Kangleipak's troubled land
Chaos reigns, a never-ending stand
Bandhs, blockades, protests, and pain
Echoes of a strife that refuses to wane.
Gherao, daylight robbery, arson, and hate
Merciless slaughter, an endless debate,
Cries and laments resonate through the air,
As we hurtle towards a blood-curdling lair.
Are we heading towards Apoptosis' dark night?
A tiny dot on the globe, Without a guiding beacon,
Divided we stand,
By ethnicity, region, and creed,
A few million people, with dreams and wants and needs.
The able and the powerful, with a divide and rule propaganda,
Leaving us in turmoil, Without a peaceful night
Politics of power, guns, and violence swaying with an eerie smile.
Homeland integrity, an unheard cry, a fading ray!
ILP, deportation, and buffer zones-a never ending maze.
Leaders and CSOs, a sprouting daze!
Drug mafia, poppy plantations, a deadly share.
Young lives nipped in the bud,
A moth-eaten workforce dwindling, without a care.
Every individual knows, yet none willing to do
Speaking the truth, a crime, Hands chained, mouth shut, too
Humanitarian crisis, media and internet banned,
State economy in shambles, Mafia and drug lords expand.
Stoic silence from the powerful, woes of the displaced,
Endless deficiencies, desperation, depression, panic, and a hopeless gaze,
Suicides in refugee camps, a heartbreaking refrain
Are we heading towards Apoptosis, an inevitable decline?
Brooding in solitude, The plight of humanity...
A square meal, sound sleep, and a peaceful mind -a basic human right
Generations come, generations go
No one carries anything to the grave, don't you know?
My inner soul asks me,
Why this endless fight?
A question that echoes, through the dark night.
