Echoes of Unheard Voices
Nishikanta Sagolsem *
In the heart of Manipur, where Kangla's spirit reigns
A tale of Meitei sorrow, forever sustains
Their houses lost, their memories faded away
Leaving only tears, to mark each passing day
Oh, the anguish of a people, who once lively lived
Those memories haunt, their voices torn.
From the echoes of those houses wall, to the whispers of the past
Their memory forgotten, forever to last
Their sons and daughters, forced to flee their home
Their future uncertain, their present overthrown
The weight of history, upon their shoulders strong
Their cries for justice, echoing all day long
In the land of their ancestors, they are made refuge
Their traditions trampled, their customs overthrown
Their voice silenced, their stories untold
Their pain and suffering, forever to be told
Oh, Meitei people, your tears are not in vain
Your struggles and sacrifices, will forever remain in pain
In the annals of time, your story will be told
Of a people who suffered, but never grew old
But shame on the government, that failed to hear
Their cries for help, their pleas for justice!
Blinded by bias, deaf to their pain,
Leaving them to suffer in vain.
