The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Smpada Yojna (PMMSY) is a flagship scheme launched by the Govt of India to promote sustainable and responsible development of the fisheries sector.
Under the leadership of Fisheries Minister Shri Heikham Dingo Singh and the dedicated efforts of the Director of Fisheries Shri Heisnam Balkrishna Singh, the PMMMSY has made significant strides in enhancing the livelihoods of fisheries and fish farmers, boosting fish production, and ensuring the sustainable management of aquatic resources.
Launched in May 2020 the PMMSY aims to bring about a Blue Revolution in India by increasing fish production, enhancing the income overall development of fisheries sector. The scheme is designed to address the challenges faced by the fisheries sector, including overfishing, inadequate infrastructure, and lack of access to modem technology.
