Growing need of private tuitions : Paying teachers a pittance

Growing need of private tuition. A reflection that nothing worthwhile is taught to students within the class room.

This is all that more so when the students are about to appear for their Class X and Class XII board exams.

A disturbing trend it is, especially when one takes into account the fact that private tuitions come with a price, a huge price.

Keeping the young students in the league.

Competition it may be all about but the troubling point is no one seems to have given any thought on why it has become almost necessary to send their children for private tuitions.

Such a trend is not restricted to a few subjects and with parents more than eager that their children should come up with respectable marks in the board exams, it is not surprising to see students taking private tuitions in almost all the subjects.

Obviously everyone seems perturbed by such a growing trend but it is disturbing to note that no one seems ready to address the point.

And to think that parents have to send their children for private tuitions even after paying a huge amount as school fees and things just do not add up.

Something, somewhere is terribly wrong. Why should parents deem it necessary to spend double the amount of what they are already spending ?

Unfortunate it is, but no one has deemed it necessary to question why parents and guardians should spend more when they are already paying through their nose to get their children admitted in some of the most expensive private schools in the State ?

Why aren’t the teachers teaching the students as they should ? Disturbing questions, no doubt, but more than right such questions should be raised now.

Tough to blame the teachers when they concentrate more on the private tuition classes or coaching classes.

There is a reason why teachers of private schools are increasingly more interested in taking private tuitions and attending coaching classes.

Not exaggerating but it is there for one and all to see and experience that private school teachers belong to the lowest paid professionals in the State.

When they get pittance as their monthly salaries, it is only natural that they lose interest in teaching the students inside the classrooms and instead save up their energy for private tuitions or coaching classes.

On the other hand their counter parts in the Government institutions are paid handsomely while they continue to produce below the par students each year.

A damning proof that no one seems ready to voice their concern over the conditions of teachers who are responsible for moulding and teaching the young students.

Wage boards have been formed for other professions and herein arises the question of whether such wage boards have been formed for private school teachers.

If yes then are the recommendations of the wage boards religiously being followed ? If not then why have no such boards been set up.

The issue here is about the future and education of the young students.
