Neiphu Rio makes an indecent proposal
- Hueiyen Lanpao Editorial :: May 28 2011 -
NEIPHIU RIO, Chief Minister of Nagaland aided by his moles in Manipur, has embraced a blunder of trying to enter Manipur politics. His baffling move threatens to upset the precarious political balance in Manipur.
True to his ignorance of the reality of politics in NE India he is venturing to dismember Manipur in the name of a group of people who have no common culture, language, tradition, or worse, no common imagination.
Who are these people?
Rio and his ilk have created a generation who in the overpowering desire of progress, chew paan and wear chappals and jeans and sing and perform at the drop of a hat.
What really is the history of these people? With complete straight faces they will relate to you ad nauseam, how they all emerged from a cave, and how they looked down on their brethren in the valley for having deserted them for a better way of life.
In their judgement they keenly define themselves as 'unique' whether this is a positive or a negative connotation one has still to figure out.
Nephiu Rio has lost touch with reality under the influence of an induced hatred and a corrosive ego. Even though his pall bearers know his impending fate, like all true parasites, they will suck every drip of his blood until he shrivels up completely dried.
One should ask Nephiu Rio how would he and the people of Nagaland feel if the Meetei National Front (MNF) wished to open a branch in Nagaland on the very same lines that he intends to open a unit of the NPF in Manipur.
Then the 'unique' quality of the Nagas could opt for a 'unique' Naga head bashing to close the issue. Who does he think he is? One is reminded of Shakespeare's lines in Edward II when Edward's French bed mate Gaveston, who had reprimanded Edward, saying "If I were King..." was rudely rebuked by the Earls and Barons 'Why talkest thou of being a king, when thou art hardly a knave by birth?'
The Meetei have throughout history studied their suppressed desire to go berserk on an unwarranted basis, and had given then a generic name.
The German scholar, Furer Haimendorf flummoxed by a loss of words referred to them as 'The Naked Nagas'. After having arrived at a semblance of knowledge, the Nagas, showed much resentment against Haimendorf.
Luck was with him because he was not a Meetei otherwise these 'unique' characters could have ruptured his jugulars. After all in order to become 'unique', one has to overcome that last stubborn resistance of reason.
It is quite easy to understand that Nephiu Rio is walking on the plank of 'alternative arrangement, integration of Naga inhabited areas, Nagalim, Greater Nagaland, etc. etc.
He has also made the guileless statement that all people are welcome to join the Naga People's Front, a unit of which he intends to inaugurate on May 28, 2011 in Senapati district HQs.
He is however tongue tied to explain the NPF's constitution which seeks 'To work for unity and integrity of the people, by integrating all Naga inhabited areas under one administrative roof.'
How is this party ever going to function in Manipur? Those in power in Manipur must make Rio and his moles feel the tight pinch of a 'unique' response to their needless meddling.
Nephiu Rio and company should stop clowning and start to act responsibly.
