Community Capacity & Care Initiative: Winter Essentials and Literacy Support Drive Held Across Relief Camps in Imphal

Pathways for Purpose (PY4P), with the support of young volunteers, successfully conducted a two-day community support initiative titled the “Community Capacity & Care Initiative” across multiple relief locations in Imphal, providing winter essentials for old age and basic educational materials to displaced elementary school children.

The programme was carried out as a joint collaboration supported by the Rotary Club of Kharadi, Pune (District 3131) and (Association of Manipuri Diaspora) AMAND Pune, whose contributions enabled the procurement and mobilisation of essential supplies for the affected communities.

The programme was implemented at the Alternative Housing Complex, Langol, on 17 January, followed by distributions at Thongju Relief Camp, Akampat, and the Veterinary Porompat Relief Camp on 18 January.

The initiative focused on distributing winter essentials to vulnerable families, along with “tokens of love” for children in the form of notebooks and simple literacy kits, aimed at encouraging continued learning and emotional reassurance in difficult circumstances.

The distributions were organised and executed with the support of young volunteers associated with PY4P. PY4P has been working in conflict-affected and displaced communities in Manipur through programmes focused on life skills, education support, youth engagement, and community resilience.

This winter initiative forms part of its broader commitment to strengthening community capacity while ensuring that support is delivered with dignity, care, and active community participation.
