Meetei Yaipha Lup — London, a not-for-profit organization of the Meetei/Meitei community living in Europe, expresses its deepest condolences and unwavering solidarity with the people of Myanmar following the devastating earthquake on March 28, 2025.
The 7.7 magnitude earthquake has caused significant loss of life, injuries, and displacement, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. As members of a community deeply rooted in empathy and resilience, we extend our heartfelt support to all those affected. The people of Manipur share deep-rooted historical and cultural ties with the diverse ethnic groups of Myanmar, particularly the Bamars, Shans, and Kathe.
From time immemorial, our ancestors have maintained close relations through trade, cultural exchanges, and kinship. These connections have fostered mutual respect, understanding, and a shared destiny among our peoples.
We applaud the ongoing efforts of rescue teams, humanitarian organizations, and volunteers who are working tirelessly to provide relief and assistance. In this difficult time, we acknowledge the resilience and strength of the people of Myanmar as they face the challenges brought by this disaster. We urge the international community and humanitarian organizations to extend their support in providing relief, medical aid, and rehabilitation assistance to the affected communities.
We remain hopeful that Myanmar will overcome this tragedy with courage and determination, and we pray for the swift recovery and well-being of all those affected. Let us come together to support the people of Myanmar during this challenging time.
