The office of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with High Court Legal Services Committee & District Legal Services Authorities organized the second National Lok Adalat for the calendar year, 2025 on 10th May, 2025 at all the District Courts & at the High Court of Manipur.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice A. Bimol Singh, Judge, High Court of Manipur & Executive Chairman, MASLSA & Shri A. Guneshwar Sharma, Judge, High Court of Manipur accompanied by Shri Alek Muivah, Member Secretary, Manipur State Legal Services Authority visited the sitting of National Lok Adalat at Lamphel Court Complex.
Hon’ble Judges of the High Court handed over the Award of National Lok Adalat to some of the parties & appreciated everyone for participating in the National Lok Adalat. While addressing members of the media at the Lamphel Court Complex, Hon’ble Mr. Justice A. Bimol Singh, Judge of the High Court of Manipur and Executive Chairman of MASLSA, stated that a total of 3,043 cases comprising both pre-litigation matters and civil cases pending adjudication before the courts have been listed for amicable settlement in the Lok Adalat being held across the State today.
The cases listed includes both pre- litigation and civil cases pending before the courts such as Matrimonial disputes, Bank recovery cases, MACT cases, Negotiable Instrument Act cases, Land Acquisition cases, Electricity & Water Bill cases, telephone bill matters.
He further emphasized that any award or order passed by the Lok Adalat shall be deemed final and binding on the parties, and no appeal shall lie before any court against the same. He highlighted that traditional litigation entails considerable expenditure of time and financial resources, whereas disputes brought before the Lok Adalat are resolved expeditiously and without incurring such costs.
He urged the general public to make use of this alternative dispute resolution mechanism by presenting their pending as well as pre-litigation matters before the appropriate District Legal Services Authority or court, so that the same may be listed for amicable settlement during the next National Lok Adalat scheduled to be held on 13th September, 2025.
A total of 236 cases were successfully resolved during the National Lok Adalat held today with total settlement amount of Rs. 2,63,46,355/- (Rupees two crores sixty-three lakhs forty-six thousand three hundred & fifty-five) only.

Rother, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal West; Ms. Monalisa Maibam, Special Judge (ND&PS), Manipur & Mr. Sorokhaibam Sadananda, CJM, Imphal East presided as Chairperson of 3(three) benches of National Lok Adalat held at Lamphel Court Complex. Mr. Ch. Momon Singh, Advocate; Ms. A. Juliet, Advocate; Mr. A. Boby Singh, Asst. Public Prosecutor; Ms. K. Sunderbala, MPS, Addl. S.P. (Admin.) Imphal West; Mr. Nimrang Jima Kom, Asst. Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Imphal East & Mr. Th. Picha Singh, Advocate performed as Members of the benches of National Lok Adalat held at Lamphel Court Complex.
Mr. Ojesh Mutum, Registrar General, High Court of Manipur presided as the Presiding Officer and Mr. Kh. Ajit Singh, Registrar (Judicial), High Court of Manipur & Mr. M. Manojkumar Singh, Joint Director, Manipur Judicial Academy performed as Members for the National Lok Adalat Bench at High Court of Manipur.
MASLSA is thankful to the Hon’ble Mr. Justice A. Bimol Singh, Judge, High Court of Manipur & Executive Chairman, MASLSA; Shri A. Guneshwar Sharma, Judge, High Court of Manipur; Presiding Officers, Judicial Officers, Ld. Advocates, PLVs, Staff of the Court & MASLSA, Officials of Bank/ Insurance Companies, News and Print Media & all the parties for contributing & participating in the National Lok Adalat and making this programme a success.
Mr. Alek Muivah, Member Secretary, MASLSA stated that the next National Lok Adalat will be held on 13th September, 2025 and appealed to all the public and stakeholders to resolve their cases & disputes by availing the services of National Lok Adalat.
It is also requested to all the News and Print Media to give wider dissemination of Lok Adalat so that more people may avail the opportunity for resolving their dispute through this Alternative Dispute Resolution i.e. Lok Adalat.
