With profound grief and heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Pu Thangkholen Sitlhou, Jampipa - Head of the Sitlhou Clan (Elmun) and Chief of Jampi—a true son of the Thadou people, a fearless leader, and an unwavering guardian of our identity, history, and rights on the 30th January of 2025. His untimely departure is an irreparable loss, not just for his family and clan but for the entire Thadou community.
Pu Thangkholen Sitlhou served as the Convenor of the Thadou Chiefs' Council, a position he was entrusted with at the historic Thadou Convention 2024, where the Thadou people boldly reaffirmed their distinct identity. A man of great vision and conviction, he dedicated his life to the unity and progress of the Thadou nation, standing firm in the face of challenges with wisdom and courage.
As the Head of the Sitlhou Clan, now embedded as Elmun, Pu Thangkholen Sitlhou upheld the proud legacy of his forefathers. He was the grandson of Pu Khotinthang Sitlhou, a revered leader twice honoured in speeches by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Imphal. Through his leadership, he carried forward the spirit of his ancestors, ensuring that the traditions, dignity, and strength of the Thadou people endured.
His passing has left an unfillable void, but his legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. The Thadou people mourn deeply, yet we stand united in honouring his memory and carrying forward his lifelong mission.
May our Almighty God give comfort and consolations to his bereaved family, close ones and the Thadou community across the globe!
