Korea Manipuri Association Celebrates Ningol Chakouba 2025 at Jeonju, South Korea
The Korean Manipuri Association (KMA) organized the KMA Ningol Chakouba 2025 celebration at Jeonju, one of South Koreas most historically and naturally beautiful city. The event was held on October 3, 2025, well ahead of the traditional Ningol Chakouba date of October 23, in consideration of the availability of community members residing across different parts of South Korea.
The gathering brought together Manipuris from various regions in a joyful celebration of culture, unity, and shared heritage. Embracing cultural diversity, KMA also extended its horizons by welcoming guests from other communities to share the vibrant tradition of our Ningol Chaokouba. The celebration featured a variety of entertainment programs and cultural performances that beautifully captured the spirit of the festival.
Heartwarming songs presented by KMA married women (Ningols) and a graceful traditional dance performed by the KMA young ladies (Leshabi) filled the atmosphere with emotion and pride. Young children of the community also showcased their talents through lively dance performances, while KMA Pibas contributed enthusiastically to the success of the program.
The event served as a meaningful reminder of the rich cultural heritage that binds the community together even while living abroad. No Ningol Chakouba is complete without a traditional Manipuri feast, and this years celebration offered everyone a nostalgic taste of home.
Dishes such as lafu eronba, uti ashangba , nga thongba , singju , and many others were lovingly prepared by KMA Pibas, bringing to life the authentic flavors of Manipur. The meal not only delighted everyone but also rekindled cherished memories of family gatherings back home.
A special highlight of the event was the introduction of the Laibak Fabi KMA Ningol title, an honor recognizing grace, cultural pride, and contribution within the community. Miss Monita was awarded the 2025 KMA Laibak Fabi Ningol title, receiving much applause and appreciation from everyone present.
To add to the excitement, a special bumper housie was also organized exclusively for KMA Ningols, creating moments of laughter, anticipation, and friendly fun. The celebration concluded with a heartfelt address from the KMA President , who expressed sincere gratitude to all members for their active participation and teamwork in making the event a memorable success.
He emphasized the importance of preserving Manipuri culture and traditions as a unifying force among the diaspora community, and encouraged everyone to continue strengthening these bonds in the years to come. He also extended his best wishes for next years Ningol Chakouba celebration, hoping it would be held on an even larger scale with greater participation.
Ningol Chakouba is one of the most cherished festivals of Manipur, symbolizing love, respect, and the special bond between brothers and sisters. The festival reminds everyone of the values of care, unity, and family affection that define Manipuri society.
The successful organization of KMA Ningol Chakouba 2025 at Jeonju stands as a proud example of how cultural roots can flourish across borders, keeping the essence of tradition alive wherever Manipuris may be.
The Korean Manipuri Association continues to play a vital role in fostering unity, cultural preservation, and mutual support among the Manipuri community in South Korea. This years celebration once again demonstrated that though far from home, the hearts of the Manipuri people remain deeply connected through shared culture, tradition, and togetherness.
For all Manipuris living in South Koreathis was a heartfelt tribute to our roots, our culture, and to our beloved landEma Manipur Yaifarasi!
