Gaan-Ngai 2025: Celebrating Culture, Unity, and Identity in Delhi NCR
The Rongmei Women Cultural Dance Troupe (RWCDT) Delhi NCR successfully celebrated Gaan-Ngai 2025, a vibrant festival showcasing the cultural heritage and identity of the Rongmei Naga community. Held on January 12, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM IST at the Nurses Residential Complex (Football Ground), Sri Niwaspuri, New Delhi – 110065, near Vinobapuri Metro Station (Pink Line), the event brought together members of the Rongmei community and friends from across Delhi NCR for an unforgettable celebration.
Under the theme “Our Festival, Our Identity,” the program highlighted the richness of Rongmei traditions through cultural activities and performances. The event commenced with Huay Kauhmei, featuring participants chanting "Ho-Ho-Ho" in a geometrical pattern, setting a lively tone.
Cultural dances (Kit Laam, Siandaih Laam) and a dynamic cultural fashion show captivated the audience, while interactive activities like Dingrian Laam (song and dance) fostered togetherness. The celebration also featured musical performances by Pouh Lankhuingam (Napmu) John (Executive Member, RCPD), folk songs by Mr. D. Thongongthui (MD, United Builders India), and Pouh Dimkulung Pamei (Sr. Audit Officer, PDA (I&CA)). A patriotic Rongmei song by Pouh Huineiguang Rwangmei (Gen. Secy., RPD) added a stirring highlight.

Chief Cabin Crew and Gaan-Ngai Convener; Ms. Gaidunliu Phaomei, Head Staff & Guest Coordinator at Bridges Academy; Mr. Lucas L. Kamsuan, Joint Secretary of the Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Finance;
Mr. Rewankumar Singh, a Social Worker (Retd., State Health Services); Th. Tommy Monsang, Income Tax Officer at the Ministry of Finance; Solomon (PG. Gangmeichung), Technical Manager specializing in Textile Laboratory Testing; Mr. Gainilung Panmei, Additional Legislative Counsel at the Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice; Mr. Rajen Kabui, Deputy Secretary in the Department of Telecommunication, Sanchar Bhawan, New Delhi; Mr. Benjamin Pamei, President of ZWAD; and Mr. Ninthuigong Kamei, Vice President of ZSUD.
Other dignitaries included Mr. Kaphunjok Henry Gonmei, Chairman of Makaam Hospital & Research Institute; Mr. Mathiuduan Kamei, President of RCPD; Mr. Huineiguang Rwangmei (Gen. Secy., RPD); Mr. Dimkulung Pamei, Sr. Audit Officer at PDA (I&CA); and several esteemed members of the Rongmei community and well-wishers.
Adding to the intellectual depth of the event, Luh Angela Gangmei, Assistant Professor at Shyam Lal College (E), Delhi University, delivered an insightful speech on the theme. A special entertainment segment, including Kala Chashmah performed by Luh Regina Gangmei and Pouh Khangamlung Kamei, delighted the audience, while the evening concluded with the grand Pazeihmei, featuring the singing of the Pazeihmei song and dance, symbolizing unity and celebration.
The event was organized under the guidance of the program committee, with Luh Gaisangliu Gonmei (Lulu) as the Convener, Luh Regina Gangmei as the Function Secretary, and Luh Gaidunliu Phaomei as the Function Finance Secretary, supported by all RWCDT members.
The organizers express heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and attendees for making Gaan-Ngai 2025 Delhi NCR a resounding success, fostering unity and pride in the cultural identity of the Rongmei community.
