Diktat to cancel celebration of Hun – Thadou cultural festival

(Translation version in English)
It has come to the knowledge of the Kuki Inpi Assam (KIA) that Hun – Thadou Cultural Festival is being organized to be held at Guwahati on April 4, 2025. After discussing the matter, KIA views this festival as harmful to Kuki. Therefore, whoever is organizing this is informed to cancel it.
The reasons are as follows:
1. Since national war in 2023 (referring to Manipur violence), there is a standing order not to organize any festival other than the Assam government-recognized Kuki Chavang Kut festival, which was also celebrated only in name due to the national (Kuki) war.
2. Even in Assam we (Kukis) are disliked by other communities living in the state. We should not forget and ignore this, and therefore no one should do anything to worsen the situation.
3. This Hun Thadou cultural festival is an indigenous faith, that we have abandoned and is against the Christian religion. This Hun festival is nowadays only a history and should not be re-introduced as a part of the culture.
4. In the state of Assam, KIA has banned any separate identity that contests/threatens Kuki identity and we will continue to fight tooth and nail any such identity.
This diktat is made for compliance by all for the sake of Kuki unity and therefore everyone is informed to comply with this. All students and workers in various cities of Assam are warned to avoid partaking in any activity that is detrimental to Kuki. Especially leaders of community organizations are informed to take care of this matter.
Anyone who ignores and fails to comply with this diktat shall be responsible for any action taken against them for their failure to comply with this diktat.
