Joint Statement of Zeme Students' Organization Manipur (ZSOM), All Inpui Students' Union (AISU), Rongmei Naga Students' Organization Manipur (RNSOM), and Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi, Manipur (LNKR)
1. Strong Condemnation of Atrocities:
We, the undersigned student organizations—ZSOM, AISU, RNSOM, and LNKR—strongly condemn the violent and unprovoked assault against Konsakhul Villagers carried out on 5th April 2025 by the following individuals:
Thangnaimang Veiphei, Chief of L. Phaijang Kuki Village
Thangkhulen Veiphei, Chief of Munlai Kuki Village
Houmang Veiphei, Chief of Haraothel Kuki Village
These individuals orchestrated a brutal attack against the peaceful residents of Konsakhul Naga Village during a period of officially imposed curfew. The Village Chief, Chairman, and three others were abducted and subjected to third-degree, life-threatening torture. As a result, the Chief and Chairman remain hospitalized due to the severity of the injuries sustained.
2. As law-abiding citizens and firm believers of peaceful coexistence, we have waited in good faith from the authorities to take appropriate legal action. However, no action has been taken to date, which raises serious concerns regarding the impartiality and effectiveness of the administration. A formal complaint identifying the culprits was filed on 5th April 2025 at the Kangpokpi Police Station.
3. The Joint Tribes Students' Association (JTSA) firmly supports and endorses all necessary measures—even to the extent of making sacrifices—to protect our ancestral land. We earnestly urge Hon'ble Governor of Manipur, and the concerned administration to book the above indentified culprits within five (5) days and delivering justice at the earliest.
Failure to do so will leave us with no option but to launch democratic forms of agitation, including the blocking of National Highways and State Highways within our jurisdiction, as a peaceful protest demanding justice. The administration shall bear full responsibility for any consequences arising from its continued inaction and failure to uphold the rule of law.
