3rd AGM of Madhurupa Memorial Cancer Welfare Society (MMCWS)
The Third Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Madhurupa Memorial Cancer Welfare Society (MMCWS) was successfully held at its office in Agartala on 6th April, 2025. The meeting brought together members, volunteers, and dignitaries to review the progress and future plans of the society’s mission to provide support and care to individuals affected by cancer.
The meeting was chaired by Shreya Debnath, the President of MMCWS, Mihir Bhattacharjee, Founding Father MMCWS & Manjari Bhattacharjee, Founding Mother MMCWS who warmly welcomed all attendees and highlighted the significant milestones the society has achieved over the past year. The AGM focused on a comprehensive review of the society’s activities by Subhadip Bhattacharya, Secretary MMCWS which includes health awareness programs, free treatment initiatives, and emotional support services for cancer patients and their families.
“We are proud of the tremendous impact we have made in the fight against cancer over the past three years,” said Shreya Debnath. “However, our work is far from over. We are committed to expanding our reach and continuing to provide vital support to cancer patients in Tripura and beyond.”
The AGM dissolved the 2024-25 committee and constituted a new executive committee for the year 2025-26. MMCWS is an NGO established in memory of Madhurupa in 2022 for cancer awareness and the welfare of cancer patients in Tripura and to help them whenever possible.
As part of the AGM, a special tribute was paid to the late Madhurupa Bhattacharya, whose vision and dedication laid the foundation for MMCWS. Their legacy continues to inspire and drive the mission forward.
Accordingly, the President of the Society dissolved the existing Committee and announced the newly selected Executive Committee of 2025-2026 : President: Smt Tanusree Das,
Vice President: Smt Shibani Bhattacharya,
Secretary: Shri Joysankar Bhattacharjee ,
Assistant Secretary: Shri Sukanta Goswami,
Treasurer : Smt Sreya Debnath.
Executive Members: Smt Sumati Deb, Shri Roopdeep Bhattacharjee, Smt Nikita Debnath, Shri Ranadhir Debnath . The society also thanked its generous donors, partners, and volunteers, whose unwavering support has been instrumental in the success of MMCWS’s initiatives.
The newly selected President of MMCWS Smt Tanushree Das stated, “As we gather here today for our Annual General Meeting, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our outgoing members, volunteers, and supporters. Your tireless efforts have shaped this society into what it is today, and for that, we are all deeply grateful. Moving forward, we will continue to honor that legacy, and with your continued support, I am confident we can achieve even greater things”.
The newly nominated secretary of MMCWS Joysankar Bhattcharjee stated, “It is with immense gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility that I stand before you today as the newly selected Secretary of the Madhurupa Memorial Cancer Welfare Society. First and foremost, I would like to thank all of you for your trust and confidence in me. Being part of this organization has been an incredible journey, and I am truly honored to take on this role. Madhurupa Memorial Cancer Welfare Society has always stood as a beacon of hope and support for those fighting cancer, and together, we have made a significant impact on many lives. Our mission has always been clear — to provide care, support, and awareness to those affected by cancer, and I firmly believe that we can continue to grow and touch even more lives in the years to come”.
