Urges Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop violence

It is extremely unfortunate that the Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modiji did not grant an appointment for a one-on-one meeting with the Hon'ble Shri N. Biren Singh, the Chief Minister of Manipur, to apprise him of the situation in Manipur. This is insulting to the people, especially to the more than sixty thousand displaced individuals who have been suffering in relief camps since the violence started on May 3, 2023.
Manipur has been in complete disarray since the migrant Chin-Kuki perpetrators attacked the Meetei public on May 3 in Churachandpur and the adjoining areas of Bishnupur district, knowing that the security of their own Chin-Kuki people living alongside the Meetei in the Imphal would be put at risk.
The fact is that the immigrant community has long been looking for an opportune moment to raise their political agenda of a ZALE’N-GAM. When they attacked the Meetei public in Churachandpur and the adjoining areas of Bishnupur district atrociously without any reason, they knew that the Meeteis would react. They did it purposely, declaring that for ZALE’N-AM, they are ready to sacrifice even thousands of their own people.
Their leaders are mostly migrants from neighbouring Myanmar. For instance, ZRO president Mr. Thanglianpau Guite, who signed the SoO (Suspension of Operation) with the Government of India was a Member of Myanmar's Parliament who had sneaked into Manipur and became a Scheduled Tribe Citizen of India the next day.
This violence has unsettled the social equilibrium of Manipur, victimizing every section of society. Today, no one is safe in Manipur. This is the harsh reality.
Therefore, World Meetei Council fervently urges the Hon'ble Shri Narendra Modiji, the Prime Minister of India, to kindly stop this violence against innocent people who are at the receiving end of the Chin-Kuki attacks. This will be the best gift to Manipur, and the people of Manipur are looking forward to it. And this will be the beginning towards normalcy which is much needed.
